Paper now off, started to remove fancy coving (going back to simplicity) and to our surprise it has come off very easily and could be re-fitted with a little tlc, so offered that on Freecycle too.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Good morning everyone!!

Not posted for a few days as there's not really been very much OS going on here. However that all changed yesterday with the glorious weather we had - managed to get line after line of washing dried and put away which was lovely!

Also last night I managed to win my auction on ebay for a fab looking set of drawers that match all our exisiting bedroom furniture (whuch has long since been discontinued!) :jso we'll be picking that up this week after a day out in Drayton Manor with DH, DD and DS :T

This morning I have been in the kitchen, I've managed to get half of it done so far but I'm already flagging :p I managed to pick up some Stardrops spray from the shops yesterday - does anybody know if it's OK to use on food prep areas??

That's all from me for now, big ((hugs)) to anybody who needs them and my thoughts are with those who are under the weather or going through other troubles x

    Morning peeps

just stopped for a late breakfast of bacon and scramblies with mushrooms - mmm really enjoyed that.

I popped on earlier but everyone was still asleep so i started off painting the fence as soon as it was light outside, i`ve managed to do 5 panels so far and plan on doing the next six shortly. The fence goes all the way down the side of the house so it takes a bit of doing but looks lovely afterwards. The right hand side won`t be done this year as that was done last year and still looks good. There is so much of it that we alternate it yearly.

Yesterday i scraped the garage door and sanded it and then gave it a new coat of hammerite so that looks good too, the garden is really starting to wake up now, there is a lovely camelia which has hundreds of buds on it down the garden and i`m sooo looking forward to it flowering :D

I managed to get my new raised bed finished yesterday and put in place after levelling off the ground, its now half full of soil and compost but still needs a good bit more before i plant anything, the worst part was getting all the gravel up and pulling up the weed fabric underneath - my back was killing me and i felt about 90 years old by the time i`d finished.

DH was a bit surprised that i`d managed to move the bed by myself as it was rather heavy, i tilted it and got inside and took the weight on my shoulders and put a foot either side and took it down to the bottom of the garden that way. Hope no one saw me as i must`ve looked a right clown :rotfl:

Anyhow the sun is shining and the birds are singing, the first lot of washing has been on the line and dried and now put away, the machine has finished the next load so i shall hang that out now before going back to the fence, DH is away with the doggies until tomorrow night so i plan to get as much done as possible whilst i have peace and quiet - just me and the cat atm.

Catch up later, have a lovely day peeps.

Hello, I'm new to this world of old style so be gentle with me:o Just wanted to say hi to everyone. The weetabix cake sounds easy, even I might manage it. The closest I have come to baking is putting icing on Tesco's ready made buns:rotfl:

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Afternoon All.......(((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) if you need one....

I had a badly needed lie in this morning, got up at 10.30. OH asked if I would put the cold frame together, so that was my first job, then I started digging out the mint that had infested the bed near the house.

We decided to have lunch in the garden, it was very nice to be able to sit in the sun for a while.

I have moved the smaller of the two wooden planters to the side of the wood store, we have started to half fill it with stones that we are digging up in the garden, believe me there are stones come up with every spade of soil. I planted sage, parsley and chives on the edge of the bed, then watered, we badly need rain. I am going to have to see if we can get an outside tap fitted, the adapter I have will not fit the tap......so we are having to cayy water from the house to the garden.
