Unlocked dongle, but cannot get a connection

No need for Compatibilty Mode as it's Windows 7 software, but the 'Run as Administrator' tip is on the right track.
Make sure the dongle is not attached until all operations are completed.0 -
It doesn't give me an option to Run as Administrator. However I am administrator on all the pc's and it does ask for permission to run.
I have just uninstalled it for about the 5th time and am trying to install it again.
I can't understand why it installs successfully, but then fails to install the drivers.0 -
Just installed it again and again it isn't installing drivers at Step 6 like the instructions say. It only seems to try to install the drivers when I install the modem.0
-
I tried installing the drivers before I connected the modem and again it installed successfully.
Waited ages and nothing was happening so I connected the modem and the drivers started installing, but failed again.0 -
Are you sure that you have followed the instructions to the letter?0
-
Yes I have as I downloaded the instructions to my desktop.
The only difference is, for downloading the drivers only, the instructions said to connect the modem to the pc and you said not to. I didn't connect it as I already had the connection manager installed.
Also the instructions say at Step 6 that once you have successfully installed from the link, which I did, that the drivers would start installing, but they didn't. I thought I may not have been giving them enough time, but even when I left it for half an hour they didn't load. They only started to load when I connected the modem.
At that point is says it is looking at Windows Update for drivers, but it seems to be just after that that it fails.
The modem is now not working with the original 3 software/connection manager either.0 -
You need to go into the Device Manager, find the USB Modem there and update or uninstall the drivers from there and start the whole procedure again if necessary.
I'm guessing maybe you've got the sequence wrong somehow.
You can get to the Device Manager by holding the Flying Windows key down and pressing Pause Break or by looking here.0 -
Thanks. Will try that when I get home and report back.0

Tried the dongle in the laptop with Vista and it loaded the Globe Visibility connection manager right away, which the netbook wasn't doing. Tried to connect, but got the message about not connecting in a timely manner.
It connected via 3Connect OK.
Tried the dongle in the netbook and it didn't even recognise it. It wasn't even showing under Computer.
I uninstalled all the programs related to ZTE, inserted it again and it loaded the Globe Visibility manager this time. However again I get the message about not connecting in the timely manner.
However it is now connecting using 3Connect.0 -
You need to make sure that you are entering the correct connection details and and that only one connection manager is starting up at a time.0
