VAT charged on bill ( 02 ) maybe any other providers

hi ..... here's a question !!!

When you have a pay monthly contract and it says " £25 p/m " for instance does this include VAT or is it added on after .... making it £27 p/m ?

I'm just curious because O2 are doin this on my bill. I've had a look in the terms n cond and i cant see it anywhere. does anyone else know ??

Usually if you sign up to a £25 tariff, you will get billed £25 including TAT.

Where you get charged more than the standard tariff could be for usage outside of your tariff allowance. So you could end up with that £27 amount.

But I suspect in your case, if bill amount is always above the £25, you might have itemised billing turned on. Some networks charge anything from £1.50 upwards for that. You have to tell them to turn it off.

Is it your very first bill?

If so your contract might have started a couple of days before your bill date in which case you also pay for the stray few days :)
  • I've been on O2 online for years. I don't have a paper bill neither does it show or have i ever asked for an itemised bill.

I have only ever gone over my allowance once and that was 1 phonecall of 17p lol

I had problems trying to view their bills online - think you need to give them a ring to turn that on and also query any charges.

Ah well if you whine to them about the extra charges when they make you any retention offer, you ought to get a better offer. Always a bright side :D.

£25 plus VAT would be over £29, so sounds like something else.

Long time since I had an O2 monthly phone conract, but the £20 a month (I thnik) included VAT. Currently have O2 home and mobile broadband and they both include VAT (£5 and £15 respectively) - and they did drop a bit when VAT was reduced to 15% last year.
  • Total before VAT 23.15 VAT 4.05 Total new charges 27.20

this is what is showing on my bill ... My contact is for £25 p/m
