Had a really rubbish day - classes didn't go well and I didn't have the energy to have a mega go at them all. Grr to Year 7s.
4 days to go!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

a) I do keep a spending diary, so I know where our money is going, it just seems that the last couple of months have been more expensive than usual, and I know why!....
b) We do need to reign it in a bit I think, but at the same time, we're enjoying being together and going out etc., so it's hard.
It's a fine balance we need, I think.
Forgive my separating your post but I wanted to give my opinions on both bits IYSWIM
a) If you look back at even the last six months, you've had a major change in your living arrangements. You've saved hard to get the deposit & now pay all the bills & things on a place of your own, plus all the expense of setting up your first home & that doesn't come cheap! I remember only too well--in those early days of nest-building--all the time I spent looking thru magazines & catalogues, dreaming & drooling over the most essential kitchen gadget or piece of table linen. The money was always needed for something far less interesting like the tv licence or a new tyre, so my oh-so-posh LAshley matching wallpaper & bed comforter is still to move in :rotfl:
b) You are right to take some time to just enjoy being spontaneous! If & when the bambinos arrive, you will not believe the amount of forward planning you need just to pop next door for a cup of sugar
AS for working out your budget on paper & how much you could be saving--don't worry! I've yet to get theory to match practical & doubt it is one of those urban myths generated by glossy women's mags, just like repotting an hydrangea without ruining your manicure

I know that over the past year, I've achieved a lot and life has changed somewhat, it's just frustrating in some ways as I know that we can do better! But, I intend to enjoy life atm
