I've been doing some sums, and we should be able to save over £500 a month! We aren't, so I need to have a closer look at finances today. I do know that December has been expensive - there are 6 birthdays in the month including mine, so presents need buying etc. Also, obviously, all the Christmas presents etc., that we've bought.

January is also going to be expensive; both mine and OH's car insurance is due and we want to pay it all in one go if possible, but we'll see.

Off out for sunday lunch today - maybe that's where we're going wrong... :o

£500 would be a superb amount to put away each month - the spending diary is def a good idea!!

The lunch was so so good, and we didn't even pay! OH's aunt and uncle treated us, which was really nice :)

I do keep a spending diary, so I know where our money is going, it just seems that the last couple of months have been more expensive than usual, and I know why! We do need to reign it in a bit I think, but at the same time, we're enjoying being together and going out etc., so it's hard.

It's a fine balance we need, I think.

    It really does, taxi!

Currently got a whole chicken roasting in the oven - we're going to use it for 3 meals this week so it was cheaper to buy a whole chicken and use that rather than chicken pieces - so as a result, the house is smelling fab right now! :D

We've just had 3 days of braising steak...always good when you can stretch food for a couple of meals
