Selling your stuff on Amazon - Part 6- Advice for newbies in first post

Hi makingtracks, the books you see that are undercutting to ridiculous prices are probably being operated by a software programme that will kick in everytime that they are not the lowest price any more.
There is also the chance that if the book was to be bought the seller will refund because it's they will lose money on the transaction (see this post) Undercutting can get out of hand so hence the advice to fly low under the radar by price matching not under cutting0 -
I was thinking about this price matching the other day. I was wondering whether it was better to price one penny higher than the lowest person. That way the software programmes won't kick in and undercut, and you are a whole penny better off!!! (Every penny helps!!!) Although after Amazon's fees, it is probably bit less than a penny...
I have reported some sellers today for showing in their Offer Details that product dispatched from UK, but in description that it ships from US. Surely this isn't right??! It seems amazing what these US sellers can get away with.
Kat - can you download your stock list to Excel? Can you not just input into excel your SKU code and keep that on your PC. I know it means you would need to possibly refer to two different places, but thought it might be easier than editing 600 descriptions...
Since my whinge a few days ago, I have sold a few books, so there is obviously something working on the site. One was for £11 yesterday, I paid 66p, so that's good!!!AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0024 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the Ebay and other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board0 -
Quick question for the professionals! When sending to U.S, does COP still cover you for the £30 or so? Or do I need signed for or Airsure cos that bumps the postage cost right up!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

A COP still covers for loss up to £32, the only difference is that you cannot claim for loss until 20 working days have passed. It also (AFAIK) only covers airmail.

I have a question of my own. I have a pending, yet it still shows as open on my listings and I can see nothing anywhere in my Amazon account that suggests this is actually 'pending'.
Usually they go to the closed list and then have to be relisted after 72 hours. I haven't had a pending for a while so have they changed the system, and if so is there anywhere I can still access the potential buyers email address to let them know I will hold the book for 72 hours?

The last 2 pendings I had relisted themselves (as if by magic!) so it looks like Amazon does it for you now if the sales don't go through, maybe thats what's happened.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Although I think there is a problem with the site at the moment too. One of my SDN emails arrived over 36 hours after the initial "the sale of your item has ended" email, and still no sign of an SDN for the other and it's over 40 hours since sale has ended mail!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Hi all,
I have a question for an Amazon genius.
I have seen books that state you can pay more for overseas delivery. Or special delivery.
How does this work?
I have a buyer in the USA who has bought a heavy book from me. I have offered to send it airmail for an extra £5.00.
This offer has been accepted from the buyer, but now I don't know how I can do it. Can anyone help.
P.S. I sent the book yesterday airmail anyway, as I thought the buyer would pay, and if they didn't want the service I would take the hit as I would still have some profit.
Thanks.

Hi Soo, I had a pending last week and asked the same question as I'm sure the system has changed and AT [I think it was] replied re how to find the sellers email address. I emailed them just in case but it didn't go through and like Becky my book was relisted automatically after 72 hours so I do think amazon have changed it slightly. Good luck with your pending
