Selling your stuff on Amazon - Part 6- Advice for newbies in first post

Hi everyone,
Have had a really good week for me, sold 16 items in the last 7 days, which I think is the most I have sold in 7 days or is at least close to it. I think it's because I have added a lot of new fiction titles recently. I hadn't really bothered with them before because they would only fetch a few pounds, but have realised that every pound counts, especially if I decide to do this full time one day.
I know that the rule is generally non-fiction better than fiction, but if its new and its cheap enough it might be worth a go, I went through a batch of new fiction books that I had and 90% could be listed at 99p or more (I don't bother with 1p listings), some went up as far as £7 so that was a nice surprise.
Sent off one book this morning, did it online tho not in the post office. It came up cheaper so that was nice.

I'm about to package up some books myself to catch tonight's post - I shall see how the different prices fare. At least I've only got myself to argue with if it's Large Letter or Packet - 'cos I stick my own stamps on and hand my parcels to the postman when he comes to empty the post box.

Am thinking of doing that print your own stamps thing, probably will if I get no joy tomorrow. I can argue with myself then too:rotfl:I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I don't print my own stamps, I like to support my local PO ('cos they're quite nice ladies really) and buy the 'lick and stick' type stamps from them.
They get the income - I get a peaceful life - talking to myself.

Paid £1.09 for 9 of them that would have cost 74p before and 1.39 for 2 that would have cost about 86p before. Going to try a different post office tomorrow!
You were definitely overcharged the new formats have no relationship to content so if your books fitted through the 25mm slot then they are large letter format and should cost about 65p to post First Class. Whoever is charging you the packet price needs educating and the sooner the better. You should complain to the head postmaster.0 -
Just in case you're trying to get on to the Amazon site - it is down at the moment. Apparently it is a 'worldwide' thing - .co.uk, .fr, .de, .com, .jp etc are all down.
This link will take you to the Amazon Discussion Board where all the 'regular' Amazombies are talking about it.

Becky004 ... you have definitely been overcharged - if they fit through the larger slot [25mm] then they are in the 'Large Letter' postal bracket.
I can sympathise that you may not wish for a confrontation in public and if you were to, then you may feel embarrassed about using that particular PO in the future.
Perhaps if you contacted the PO directly and give them the details they can confront the problem on your behalf, so to speak.

hope it helps - remember if someone overcharges you ... they've got money that belongs to you.Learn to laugh at yourself ... everyone else has:rotfl:

Can anyone tell me how/why some sellers are listed as in the UK but in their details for the books it says "Ships from the US"
just been listing some which are quite high prices and the only competition is from the US, was getting annoying thinking I had to alter the price to reflect a UK seller to re-read and discover they weren't !!
