It's a wonder people live longer nowadays what with smoking being permitted years ago and even fashionable (esp in the 60's).
It's a wonder my nan is still going strong what with being a smoker and all the second hand smoke she breathed in her 7 decades of being exposed to it.
funny, anyone would think you will drop dead if you breathe in a bit of smoke.. you best get yourself a mask what with all the ash in the air at the moment, you know, considering how paranoid you are at walking past a smoker.
I hope you don't drink/eat junk food/use talc or do anything else that will be harmful to your health.0 -

Have you ever considered a career in Customs or Drug Squad, you should consider getting a job at the airport sniffing out all those smugglers booties that the dogs are trained up in,Smoking doesn't just affect people when they have to walk through it. I can smell it if the person in the car next to me is smoking. I know when someone walks past my house smoking and i can smell it from people on the other side of the street. It is a pervasive smell and different from any other.
Sometimes I even feel panicky when i am forced to breathe it as I hate the thought of that poison entering my system - let alone that of my children.
The worst thing is that people seem to think that stepping away from you is enough - it isn't. you need to go up the road, round the corner and into the shed for me not to notice the disgusting stink!
I think you will do exceptionally well, especially with the ability of sniffing through walls or of people in different vehicles to your own, a truly amazing feat.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Why?
Smoking is a legal pastime, and I think quite enough concessions have been made - I'm happy to smoke outside, but I have got no intentions of going any futher with this - the open air belongs to us all, an no one has any more rights that any one else what they do in it - providing they are not breaking the law. lol
You are being 'poisoned' every time you come out of your house - do you honestly think vehicle fumes/air pollution are good for you?
If you really feel this obsessive about smoking, perhaps you need to get some help with your over-neurosis.
There is every likelihood that when your kids become teenagers, they will try smoking, because that is what teenagers do. They will also survive quite happily after doing this.;)

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

No they are not rented they are leased.
And part of the lease is that you are not allowed to smoke in them or take dogs, except guide dogs, in them.
I just really hope the guide dogs do not belong to the person driving the car. :T:cool::T:cool::TIf you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -

Do you have a link? Cant see anything about not smoking in them on the motability website0 -
I stand corrected. I had been told by people with mobility cars that you can not smoke in them or take dogs in them when I searched the web to start with it was also stated on another board. http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-207638.html
But after going on to mobility site and Asking Mo you can do both.
It is just you might be charged at the end of the lease for any smoke damage and/or damage by dog. :eek:If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
I am a non smoker, non drinker and non drug taker (other than legal prescribed ones). I am in a very happy relationship with a smoker and a drinker. We go to the pub together most weekends and he will happily sit in my house with my stepdad who smokes and my mum who doesnt and have a ciggy or 2. When we are out he goes out in all weathers to have a cigarette, when we go shopping he will stand well away from the door while finishing his fag and only go near the entrance and the ashtrays when he is ready to put the fag out and enter the shop.
He does not smoke in the car be it mine or his, he doesnt smoke at work and he would never smoke in anyones company without asking them if it is ok first. If they say no he will do the polite thing and walk away. Now I get that not all smokers are considerate but us non smokers do have the whole of the indoors of all public buildings to sit in happily without breathing it in or stinking. I don't really understand what more you want? Your child will have to go to school and probably by the age of 10 have been offered or smoked a ciggy with his mates on the quiet anyway. Thats life love.
I for one would hate it if tobacco became illegal, I do not want tax on everything else going up to compensate for the tobacco tax that would be lost. The first thing that tax would go up on almost guaranteed would be fuel and then we would all be in a much worse situation than we are in already. Thank your lucky stars that your children can walk around the supermarket without breathing it in and if all else fails, leave the child with a babysitter.0 -

Oh good grief!!!! I've never heard (read) anything quite so pathetic in my life!
Do please get a grip of yourself and quit being so damned precious!0 -

thanks for replying, but i realy don't see how it has much relevance to my original post.
I suppose it hightlights that some people don't mind the smell of cigarettes, or the effects of 2nd hand smoking.
I fully understand that my daughter will grow up and possibly try smoking herself, it doesn't mean I won't do what I can now to steer her away from it. I'm not going to NOT try to teach her right from wrong because she might or might not try something when she's older.
As your OH is a considerate smoker, then moving the ashtrays away from the doors to supermarkets wouldn't bother him at all anyway, which is great.
I'm still gobsmacked by some of the responces here, mostly because some people seem so at ease at insulting others.0
