When did you get your first viewing

Hi there

My house has been on the market for 2 weeks and I havent have a single viewing yet! Is this normal? or just the market at the moment I have heard that things have gone quiet until the election in may.

Ive been only 8 days and no viewings.. I think it depends where you are... at least i'm hoping so!!

as a buyer, I view some houses even before they go on Rightmove.
unless you are in a very sleepy/unpopular area, the first week is critical

10 days for 1st viewing.

Ours went on the estate agent website last tuesday afternoon, rightmove wednesday, GSPC Friday.

No viewings! Been doing a bit of polishing this morning, just in case

I must admit, I'd hoped for more interest. Thing is though, we won't be moving till end of August (early August entry date, but work to do on new house), so it's still early days yet for us - wouldn't want someone to come along that was in a hurry anyway.

We put our house on the market at the begining of November (08) and had our first viewing in March (09) and that was someone Id found to view it through the for sale forum in work! We did live in a quiet sleepy place though

i wouldnt panic. it has been the easter break. Our viewings have dropped over the past 2 weeks.

I would say that viewings go up over the Easter weekend as the buyers are at home to actually do the viewings - that is what our EA said to us when we sold.

We were also told the first 2 weeks is the most important time when you get most viewings. We had our first viewing on day 3 and had about 5 viewings in the first 2 weeks. The viewings then really dried up and basically we only had one every 2 or 3 weeks after that.

I'd have expected viewings over the holidays - Spring is when it all kicks off in the house buying game...

We went on the market last Monday and had three viewings in the first 5 days with another this Friday. This was without the usual drawer full of prospective buyers that EA's sometimes claim to have as ours was with HouseNetwork and online only.

Our Estate Agent lined up 5 viewings on the first day that ours hit the market and a further 4 viewings in the week after. We had an offer from one of those first 5 viewings and so ended up taking it back off the market the same day that it went on We are paying through the nose for that service though - 3% but we specifically chose that agent because they would aggressively market ours (needed it sold fast as we has already found another property we loved!) It took them a LOT of phone calls to get those 9 viewers, don't think may Estate Agents would have done the same for us...but as I say...3% on a £125,000 sale...not an easy figure to swallow.
