If a seller specifies paying in 24 hours on listing, should you?

Or do the Ebay rules of 7 days ride over it?
I had a very rude message from a seller as it was over 24 hours and they wanted me to pay as it said in listing. I have paid, but for future reference where do I stand with that?
thanks

They can't even open an nPB until day 4, so I wouldn't feel bad as long as I paid within that 4 day period and certainly wouldn't take any notice of sellers terms if they suggested otherwise.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I would certainly mark them down on their communication DSR star0

It certainly appears as an option, so ebay must endorse it. Why would you not pay fairly quickly? I always do. Fancy, a seller being cheeky enough to ask for his money.0

Hmmm, in my opinion if he's that bothered he should set it for immediate payment only (where you can't buy it unless you pay there and then).
That said I've always paid ASAP, the day it finishes or the next day (depending what time it finishes).0 -
Most business sellers, I am assuming, don't really care too much. But if the seller wants it paid in 24 hours, and lists as such, you should comply. Why not do so?
Everyone on these boards seems to think the buyer is doing you a favour by purchasing at all.0 -

Because no matter what clauses the seller puts in the listing, they are over ruled by ebay.0 -
Maybe the seller was going away or was not going to be near a post office so wanted payment within 24 hours to guarantee your item was posted on time?My daughters are my world0

A polite message would have been ok. I think the rude message would get me, and I'd give feedback based on that.0

I have emailed a lady and explained that if she paid by x time, the parcel would be posted, if not it was not a problem (either due to to getting email on time or another reason!), but due to holiday (Post Office, not mine!) it would not be posted for a few days.
Seemed to go down ok.
As habit I tend to always pay straight away, or within 12 hours, and do get annoyed when people win then don't pay, however try to be patient....I do think not paying after 4 days, unless you have a reason/communicate is a bit off!
As it is someone who won from me on Wed pm hasn't paid yet....only downside (to them) is that Monday therefore is the first day I can post once they do pay. Of course, it is fine as long as they are not the kind who look at when they won against when I post as opposed to when they actually paid lol!

I think we are all forgetting this is ebay, so sellers cannot insist on payment in 24 hours..what exactly are they going to do if buyer doesn't pay in that time frame, hold their breath until they turn blue and then scweam and scweam and throw a tantrum? If you can't enforce a rule why say it?
As for selllers who might be going away, if that is the case why on earth are they still listing. it will all end in disaster. Sellers only have 7 days in which to ship, after that they lose all seller protection on paypal. So again, buyers pays a day late, seller goes away for 10 days and comes home to find he has a paypal chargeback open against him and a possible non performing seller complaint and a neg. Hmm, good business model.
Yes actually we should be grateful for buyers, that is why we sell on ebay. If you don't think buyers are important then sell on ebid instead and you'll never have to bother about a buyer again and can have whatever terms you like as no one will ever read them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
