That is wrong, wrong, wrong. Of course they should've accepted all your vouchers for stuff that you had bought, otherwise there would be no point in vouchers!nurse_sue wrote:
here we go again
id wrote well emailed the companies of the online vouchers the sent me real coupons as my online ones werent accepted
so off i trundled to asda again ............
bought 90 pounds groceries would only take 1 voucher so it looks like 1 voucher per shop
yep id bought the goods too
I appreciate that not everybody likes to create a fuss, but it really sounds like your local Asda are a pain in the neck and their staff need training. I would write to the manager and complain (or at least talk to their CS desk and explain the situation).
I think what it comes down to in your case is staff ignorance. I had that happen to me once, a young lad on the till in Asda said, "Oh we only take 10% in vouchers whether or not you've bought the products". I knew he was wrong so went to the CS desk afterwards and got my money back for the stuff that I had bought.
Good luck and let us know how you get on in the future.

P.S. From what I know, Sainsbury's do accept coupons, but only if you have bought the product.[/QUOTE]
Yes, my Sainsbury also only accepts coupons for items actually purchased - which is why I'm a Tesco gal now! :-)0 -
They get paid peanuts and have little authority so this is their only chance to show that they are better than you, so they use it.Why do these sales assistants think it is ok to publicly humiliate people?
Then you should have left all the shopping where it was and walked out of the shop. I have done this at Tesco on a self-service till when the "assistant" started being abusive because I was trying to scan my items too quickly and the system didn't like it.bought 90 pounds groceries would only take 1 voucher so it looks like 1 voucher per shop yep id bought the goods too
If they want to inconvenience me, or be abusive or unpleasant to me, I find the best solution it to say very loudly "you can keep your shopping" and then leave. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
Sainsburys only accept coupons if you actually buy the product.
Asda, used to be very good, and accepted everything I could lay my hands on, but now very hit, but more MISS. On a good day they will only accept up to 10% in coupons, irrespective of if you've bought the item. One day I spent about £13 on shopping, inc a mag for which I had a coupon worth £1.40 off. They refused to accept it, as it would be more than 10% of the entire shop ! I ask you !! They won't accept any quick read coupons, even if you buy a book
Tesco very miss, but can be a good hit. One young girl simply kept holding her hand out for more coupons ! But they often even won't accept Sainsburys coupons from the Mag ( yet some stores still have the big notice outside saying they do) and when I say "I thought you accepted Sainsburys coupons" They say only the ones for £3 off a £30 shop etc. They have accepted printed coupons (don't use many) and yet sometimes are unable to scan ones out of papers
Somerfield only accept coupons for items you have actually bought
Waitrose I have NEVER tried before, but taking advice from one of these threads I gave it a go a couple of weeks ago, and was turned down flat for ALL coupons.
re Laura1976 comment about attitude/approach to staff. I am always polite and friendly and NEVER kick up a stink if they are not accepted, so I don't think that necessarily follows all the time. Think there are times when staff have been given a dressing down about accepting coupons, and then for a week or so they REALLY crack down on things. This is probably where picking the casual staff/student may really help, 'cos they probably missed the "Team Briefings" where most of staff would have been forcibly reminded of the store policy.
Last month in Asda all the till staff kept calling for a supervisor for every coupon offered, so you can imagine how frazzled she was running up and down about 40 tills !! Presumably staff were told if in doubt, check with a supervisor, so they were. Whether because they didn't like her and wanted to make her life a misery I don't know. But everytime I went in she was Very Hot and Bothered. She was the one who refused the magazine coupon when I'd actually bought it !
Then again, they have lost out, 'cos I've hardly been in Asda for a decent shop in ages. Just grabbed some of the really cheap bargins, and tried my luck at Tesco:rolleyes:
Overall I would say it is a matter of COMPLETE POT LUCK !!
What about you other MSErs out there who work on the tills. Do you get 'Told off' about coupons, or do you simply not like this old bag ? Is it store policies you enforce, or personal vendettas ??

P.S I think that next time I get a coupon refused when I have actually bought the item I will return it to the manufacturer and "Name and Shame" the store. Saying what is the point of you producing these coupons to encourage people to try your products, if Asda will not honour them. See if that gets any results

Don't just not go back, tell them why, put pressure on them to accept the coupons as their competitors do, it will work I assure you. If enough people leave stock racked up on the conveyors they will rethink their policy.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Probably why I do it the way I do, I'm only a part-timer! Still until I'm told otherwise if you come to my till and be friendly I'll take all your coupons!Smokefree since 27-9-20070 -
