    Yes, they're 2 separate things
Are you asking if you can use a freeview+ box to record cable - NO

It is possible if you have a Freeview receiver in addition to your Virgin receiver.

You would then connect the receivers to the scart or HDMI inputs of your TV. If you only have one input you would need to "daisly chain" the connection.

If you are asking if you can connect your Freeview box to the NTL/Virging cable used for the NTL/VM TV STB,then no you cannot. The signal feeds used for NTL/VM TV are incompatable with any type of Freeview system.
You need to connect the Freeview box to a normal TV Airial.

No I want to watch the freeview+ channels & record from them, but I already have Virgin & keep it because it keeps the cost of my broadband & home phone down (it's a package), I only have the one TV though!

I mainly use my Virgin TV for watching the 'catch-up' channel, it's prety awesome :T

I hope that's easier to understand?

Not easily, however scart and HDMI switchers are not expensive. I'd be really supprised if you need it though.

Freeview is not high def yet for most of the UK. You only need HDMI if your using High Def really. Auto switchers start at £30 for HDMI (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=265062) and SCART (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=46677) in Maplin and go up depending on how many thing you want to connect, I daresay Fleabay will have them in droves.

My TV has 2 scarts, componant input and 2 HDMI, by wiring the Wii up to the comonent, DVD and HD PVR to HDMI I left the Xbox(1 not 360) on a scart connector and still have one spare scart for the NTL box (although to be honest we don't oftent trn it on as we only get the basic channels). I could wire the Xbox via HDMI or Composite, but the original xbox can't do that high def so theres no point.

You'll need an Aeriel, as Spike said Freeview channels are not sent over NTL's cable network in a form the freeview+ box can use.

After that you just need the approriate sockets on the back of the TV, they can happily co-exist, and if you have the sockets available you don;t need to bother daisy chainging them together.

Not sure I agree with your sig...

Animals are not ours to [snip] use for our entertainment

our Ferrets give us hours of fun watching them...

Thanks so much for that, you've really put my mind at rest now :D

It's fab that you have fun watching the ferrets, but I don't think you're forcing them to do tricks, etc for you... in the way circuses that use animals do! :)
Btw, are they rescued ferrets or bought from a a breeder/pet shop?

I knew what you meant. :D The only "trick" we have taught them is to respond to a squeeky toy by giving them treats. More a come back to us if lost response than a trick..

Both are rescue ferrets, we think they were one year old when we got them. He (Trouble) is an unknown, the rescue centre didn't know his background, he has just handed in. She (Strife) was given to them by someone who decided she was too hard to keep and the prior keeper had Strife from about 6 months to about 12 months.

Mind you He has a habit of climbing up me as I type on my PC and walking over the keyboard. Fine if I'm surfing, a real PITA when I'm trying to do my open univeristy course and he wants to nose everywhere..

Really good to hear they were rescued & great names you've given them too :)

I can see Strife has an apt name, sounds like a cutie... hehe! What's "a real PITA"? It's the only thing you've written that I have no clue about
