Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for todayl. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning.

Hi. The thread is late today....

Fine morning here, blue sky and should be fairly warm.

Great day fishing yesterday, 11 miles south of the Lizard, calm sea, sun and perfect day. Not a lot of fish though, but it was great to be out.

Today I have to fix the OH car, then take my boat to the bro in laws to have new stainless fittings added. It's going to be a busy day, but if both jobs are successful, then it will be a great day...

It's going to be an expensive day, but moneysaving. as if I had to pay full price for everything, then it would be a big wadge of cash....

Well, folks, I have stinky fishing gear to wash... cheers. enjoy the day

    Morning All

Candygirl - I was going to advise that if you wanted to keep Boo then to keep her regardless to the selfishness of her mother you get the good bits for a week! I think at that age she won't even notice her mum is missing and quite frankly I was so tired when my Boo was a year old I'd have cried with delight and guilt if my mum had taken her for a week!
Butterfly hope you're feeling more rested. I hate hospitals as I don't sleep because i snore (very loudly - its a talent :D ) I get embarrassed about it

Diva hope things go as they should today and you're feeling better very soon

Busy day ahead and my chauffeur (DH) has man-cough...a lot like man-flu but with less snot :D I need to get an early start at it if I'm to get what I want done today - trying to get as many jobs as I can done so we can have a couple of peaceful days when the kids go backt to school (:jnearly there)

OS wise I have some steak and onions which I need to turn into a pie and I want to make some dough in the BM for pizza bases for dinner.

Need to see whats in the freezer and be a bit inventive as cash is rather short and do the meal plan for the next week, The teenagers seem to be permanently 'starving' so need to do some baking this weekend so there's snacks in for them to keep them going. There's not a picking on them you'd never believe how much they eat!

Have a good day all x

ETA Can I also just say to Flutterby that I want your job! It sounds so fulfilling, you describe it so attractively, I bet you are a real asset to your employers! :A

Jackieglasgow - Thank you for that comment on yesterday's thread. I truely adore my job :D and I know I get to do fun things sometimes, but dealing with 13 teens each with different issues is v challenging so I do work my socks off when they are with me!

I'll post more tonight as I need to get ready for work.

    Have a great day all

    Good Morning Everyone

    Its Friday :j

Didn't come on here at all yesterday  had to work 11 hours Wed night and have now got a horrible cold :( Couldn't catch up on my sleep yesterday due to work calls so took night nurse and had a really early night. Now have fuzzy head and waiting for it to clear.

Missing 1 day of my life has resulted in - huuuge pile of paperwork on my desk, loads of phonecalls to make, messy house, large amount of washing and ironing

Right that is enough moaning - going to have a bath - make a start on the paperwork & get everything essential done. Put some washing on and get out on the line as its absolutely gorgeous weather here. Try to get my phonecalls done this morning so can take the kids out somewhere this afternoon where we can enjoy the weather for a couple of hours. The worst job I have is trying to get hold of the police today to find out what is happening with our impounded lorry. The person dealing with it is never around.

Anyway - hope you all have wonderful days, sorry if I have missed any news & (((hugs))) to anyone who needs/wants one.x

is76 – welcome to the Daily!
JellyBaby / JackieG – I don’t have the recipe on me at the moment – promise to pop back later and post it (along with details of the fab book it’s from.)
Csarina – good luck with the bunnies. I have four (pets. Not intruders), and boy can they dig. Of course, as soon as they start digging puppy-dog tries to join in. my garden’s a right state!

Poor Diva – she must be feeling so low at the moment. Hope she gets the Op she needs today and can make a speedy recovery.

Went to see another house last night – it was lovely. Huge garden and loads of potential. Only drawback was that the master bedroom was quite small, but all of the neighbours have put extensions on their houses so if we follow suit we could end up with a lovely master with en suite. We’ll need to do some MSing to save up for it though!

OS today – whoopsied pizza’s for tea tonight, sandwhiches with last of the LO beef for lunch. Need to pop in to town to give about a hundred documents to the solicitor (it took us about 3 hours to fill in the forms last night…) and get a few bits in Mr S. Thank you to those who gave me advice about wheatgerm – I shall hunt some down later. Hoping to get some more washing dried on the line today.

    Hugs to all,
    Gxx

    :hello: Good morning guys,

It's shaping up to be another glorious day here, no sign of the cloud they have forecast yet!

The kids and I had a brilliant time last week and we will definately do a Haven again. It was a bit off the beaten track but the facilities meant that the kids had plenty to do and the swimming pool saw a lot of use.:T We also had a day at Land's end - Brilliant, the kids loved the Dr Who exhibition and the 4d movie most - and we had a wander around Penzance and St Ives. The beaches are stunning and it was lovely to fall asleep at night to the sound of the waves.

Anyhow, I have now caught up with the washing and ironing :D cleaned the house and spent a day in the garden yesterday weeding and pottering.

Today there is a man expected to treat the weeds in the lawn and I want to order another ton of decorative slate and bags of bark to top up the beds. I also need to make a list of plants that I need to buy and cost up putting in another bed at the bottom of the garden. There is a gap and a fence between two large hedges so I am thinking about some honeysuckle for the fence and bedding plants to front them.

The usual swish and swipe today, get my wash on the line and iron later, more weeding and titivating in the front garden and little else except entertain the kids I susupect :D.

Lunch will be a baked spud and tuna/beans depending on preferances and tea will be a nice hot curry from yesterday's left over pork.

Gentle hugs to all in need today and I hope you all have a good one.

    Smoky. xxx

    Morning all,

Bright beautiful day here, I have my large cotton throw from on the bed in the wm, I have been waiting for a really nice day to give it a wash.

Most of yesterday was spent scraping paint off of the utility, my plan was to give it a quick rub down then paint it, I should have known it would not be that easy :(, previous owner strikes again, as I started rubbing big chunks of paint came away, he has not 'mis coated' the bare plaster and so the paint will not stick, so the lot will have to come off, still keeps me out of trouble :D will spend most of today doing it too.

Going to have some boiled eggs for my breakfast, I still have a load of eggs to use up, will hard boil some at the same time to go with a salad tomorrow night. I think I might make a fruit salad too, and some soup if I have time.

Butterfly, poor you that must have been very frightening, hope you feel better soon xx

Taplady enjoy your new car xx

Hope Diva gets her op today and all goes well xx

Rosyred well done to your ds :T

    Have good days all xx

Edited to say, Taplady just seen your post, your poor DH seems to be in the wars at the moment, big hugs to him xx

    Morning All :hello:,

MSD - thinking of you hun, hope everything goes well today xx

Just a quickie from me as still stupidly busy at work!

Have got my lovely SD's coming over tonight as they want to see their cousins so am going to cook something with mince - hello red lentils and grated carrot!!!! Kids have never realised yet so I'm not about to change my habits :D

Lovely sunny day here so must try and get out at lunch rather than sitting here working my behind off (although with the size of it, perhaps that's not a bad idea :rotfl:)

    Hugs all round xx

ETA - Taplady your poor DH wrap him up in bubble wrap!

    Hugs to Diva.
    I'm late online today.
DW finished & waiting to be emptied, WM on, all the paintwork downstairs has been wiped over, will do upstairs next.
I've stocked up one drawer of my freezer with sandwiches & one drawer with BBQ stuff that I've marinaded, ready for the next time hubby gets the urge to BBQ.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
