sorry i havnt been on this board for a few days, so i have only just caught up with your new thread.

i just want to add my congratulations, and to say that you are an inspiration to all (including me:D ) to stay focused on your goal.

i think it is of little consequence how much you earn, because its all relevant if we all have a similar mortgage to salary ratio on our home.

i wish you and your family all the best, however you decide to use your extra cash in the future, i am sure whatever you do with it, it will be money wisely spent for the benefit of all of you.

well done fg's, and thank you for all the help and inspiration you have brought to this board.

    xx

    I've been Money Tipped!
We took out a 20 year term nearly 3 years ago. We have overpaid £500 a month and it is now down to 13 years left:j We borrowed £128k the balance is now 98K.

We are just about to end a 3 year fixed rate, so our regular payments are going up by £200 extra a month:mad: We had a good fixed of 4.09% with Nationwide.

Never mind, we plan to up the regular payment so that it equals what we currently pay at the moment including the £500. Then we shall try and carry on overpaying what we can each month.

I really want to get rid of the mortgage.
  • I can see the frustration that the fixed rate has finished but care on with the plan

Have you worked out your new MFW, if you carry on, then getting it gone within ten years (in total) should be possible
  • Well I'm pleasd with the money I have overpaid on my mortgage this month. Will be hard starting on a 0 again in september! Oh well, maybe my premium bond will save me!!!!!!
  • woowww your overpayment for august is very high - me very impressed!! any tips ?
  • Hi
I sorted out some stuff I didn't want any more - I wasn't expecting a lot but the items I put on ebay brought me in a lot of money - they flew!! I sold some books on amazon as well, I didn't expect anywhere near this level of overpayment but I'm glad it was! My previous record was just over £900. Back to the loft I think for September, one thing on ebay was something I bought for a few pounds and made over £100 so really pleased with that!
  • Congratulations. Sure you had a fab holiday that will be remembered for many years.

  • I'm not sure if thats directed at me or not - if it is just to mention that I have been holidaying for the past two years, going to concerts and generally enjoying myself, this year I don't really have the time to go on holiday, although I am still going to parties, concerts and having a few days away in this country as well. That is mainly covered by the rental property I own outright. If its not directed at me - well I've just shown off!!!!!!!!!
