Congrats - even if you don't drink, you surely deserve 1 glass of bubbly for all your good effort...! Mind you, if you really don't drink, how about a nice dinner out for you & your other half who have worked so hard to pay it all off?
We will be buying as first timers next year hopefully, I'm interested in your comments that it's not a good time to buy - we're keen to learn as much as we can and if it's not the time to buy, we'd like to know as much info as poss.

Enjoy!
My comment about good time to buy were directed at the Buy to Let market, where there seems to be too many people chasing tenants and canny developers have gotten very good at selling rainbows to newbie landlords
In terms of buying to live in, one could wait forever for the right time
We bought our house, back when interest rates were 14%, but we were getting married and therefore, it was right for us, and we needed somewhere to live.
Just make sure you have some headroom when you start and as soon as you can, reduce the mortgage burden by making whatever repayments you can, even if it is only the contents of your mortgage pig0 -
Well done TFG! We're also on course for an earlier than expected redemption due to a promotion for DH - were hoping for next summer but are now going for Christmas - best Xmas pressie ever!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Also remember to cancel the life cover that was with the mortgage
That saves another £20 a month
Every little helps0 -
Congratulations.
that is one amazing achievement. :T
My feeling is that CHAPS is used to squeeze the last pennies out of you, I asked the same about conveyancing, thats what my sol told me. Ah well.
Have you worked out how much interest you have avoided by overpaying? Id love to know how much youve saved! :j:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Had to be exact, but trying some numbers in the overpayment calculator, in the order of £120,000 to £125,000 saved
Even, I was surprised at that it was so high0
