It seems that I should go for Henry - according to your experience.
Thank you all so much for your help. I am buying it at the weekend so let you know which one I went for at the end. Thanks again.2014 - Lisbon - February

Dyson in pieces in the garage after clearing up following DIY. Yes maybe we shouldn't have but thats what our vacuum is for. Bought a Henry and as everything is in the bag, not got the same problem. Wish we'd bought one much earlier now0

We have both a Dyson and a Henry. I love the Dyson, its light and brilliant for stairs/can be manoeuvred around. It was overheated 6 months ago and took it for repair - thought it was the motor but man said just overheated. Works fine now.
However, OH then decided he wanted a Henry - said all of the NHS uses it, loads of offices/shops etc etc and bought one - have to say its very powerful but difficult for stairs and cars - the Dyson is flexible for cars. My little children love the Henry for obvious reasons and enjoy having a go.
Unfortunately, on the basis of lasting forever without repair and on friends recomendations to us, have to say the Henry wins
(but I like Dyson more)0 -
you will never see a tradesman with a dyson in his van , i have had one for 10 yrs and it's still going strong
henrys will take all sorts of punishemnt
the augument that a dyson doesn't need a bag doen't wash with me - you still have to empty the container and then dust flies everywhere , you can get a henry for around £80 , i don't suppose you would get much change from £200 if you got a dyson - the difference will keep you in henry bags or you can get a washable / reusable one
go henry - you know it makes sense :T:T:T:T0 -
We have a dyson, my prents an ancient henry. I like both.
We hve laminate or tiles in a room except bedrooms and I prefer the dyson in here my mum has carpet throughout and has a much bigger home and the henry suits that but she finds him too difficult for stairs now so often sends my dd over for the dyson while i'm at work.... the joys of living ony .5 of mile from your prents and them having keys.
I say your choice depends on your personal circumstancesMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

Neither, go for Miele:) Mine is at least 15 years old and still sucks like new. It's only ever had to have the bags changed. My floors are nearly all wood with a couple of carpeted areas.
We have a Dyson and it (like most other vacuum cleaner), just annoys me with the noise it makes! Whilst it does a good job at collecting up all our dog hair (Our border collie's is the worst!), the noise is too distracting. Why do they make they so loud?
Recently, when we moved out to the in-law (kitchen being refitted), we used their Miele. It was fantastic. When our Dyson dies we will be buying one. Quiet and efficient.
Have used Henry's previously at work, but would still go for a Miele.0 -
Another vote for Henry from me, I love mine. It's much lighter than my Mum's Dyson.0

I lived in a hostel and we used a communial Henry. It was a joke, maybe we had a dodgy one or maybe it was over worked (11-15 people, one roof) but lets face it, masking tape on the carpet did a better job, it never really did any hard wood floors- for that we used a broom but I'd imagine it'd have done no better then it was on carpets.
I now have a dyson, its fantastic- best birthday present I ever had! It is heavier then my last Tesco Value hoover but not massivly so and it has wheels and a long cord so you really don't need to carry it much at all. I don't find it too heavy at any rate. It works first time (eg I don't hoover the floor, turn around and find that nothing has really been picked up and I have to scrub) and I only have hardwood floors. I like how fast it works, I like that I can see all my hard work
and I also like that if I hoover up money I've not got to hack at the bag with a pair of sissors to retrieve what I had lost. 0 -
A reconditioned Bissell from Bissell Direct. They're excellent0
