So sorry Sagaris and Leedash.
Just be grateful for a law that allows us to be able to do this one last kind thing for our beloved pets.Having to watch them die would be far far worse than seeing them go with dignity, pain free and loved to the very end.I have had both my dogs put to sleep, and i think the majority of owners of cats and dogs probably have to face the same.
It is very hard but as i said earlier today, better that you feel the pain of their loss because you cared so much, than they feel pain because you didn't care enough.
May these moving words help.
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.
I barked to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the milk
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said, "It's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you every day
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled; I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
And say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.0 -

thinking of you at this sad time
i know the pain you are going through0 -
Sagaris, there are many people here who have felt your pain, for many of us the loss is as painful as the passing of a close relative, I know for us it was very hard to cope with, with us it was our much loved cat, the only comfort I had was that we made the difficult decision at the right time and helped him on his last journey as a final act of kindness, he too had been with us since he was a stray.
Your faithful friend had 16 wonderful years of loving you and being loved back, that's more than many dogs or humans could ever hope for.
Your friend is at peace now, in time you'll be able to not think too much about how awful today was and remember the happier times you shared.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Aww, I just shed a couple of tears for her, bless.
:ABe who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0 -
So very sad to hear two of you have lost your best friends. We all know how it feels and it does take time to heal. I still shed a tear for dogs lost decades ago.
God bless xxx0 -
I'm so sorry for your loss sagaris and I'm glad you were able to stay with her until the end.
My MIL came with me when I had my girl PTS 6 years ago and she offered to stay with her so I could leave the room but I wouldn't have left my baby all alone at the end, she gave me so much in the short time we had her (just 6 months), it would have been even worse for me had I thought she was without her mummy.
Take each day as it comes and remember all the good times she gave you.0 -
Thanks for posting, but I would advise the OP not to watch as I found it too upsetting.
