After getting a bill from Eon and working out how much my gas and electricity cost me for the past year I thought I would see if I could get it any cheaper for the next year and after hearing such wonderful things about Ebico, ;) I went to their website.

Eon cost me, and if I use the same amount again this year,£540 for gas and £420 for electricity . This includes any discounts, so £960 for the year.

I am on FixOnline6

Same amount of gas and electricity from Ebico, £679 for gas, and £580 for electricity, a grand total of £1259.

Charging £302 more than Eon and yet Ebico are not making a profit from that ?

Something is far wrong there if Eon can make a profit on selling me gas and electricity for £960 and Ebico can't and yet would charge me £302 a year more for it.

Whoever is running Ebico needs to go on a business course on how to make a profit reselling fuel:(.

And if I could get my gas and electricity a lot cheaper than I am getting it from Eon I would be off like a shot.

Rob.

Ebico is really for small consumers. I would have kittens if my energy bills were as high as yours even with eON. I pay £10 a month prepay to Ebico for gas and about £15 a month for electric.

Maybe you should reduce your consumption and you would save further no matter who supplies you.

You try paying that in Scotland for a 3 bed semi, I would love to live in the south of England where it is nice and warm.

It was frosty the other night, ice on the car when I got up.

Outside temp 9 deg C at 6pm just now and that is what it has been all day.

So you're telling me you use 1300 kWh of electricity and 3350 kWh of gas a year?

My 2 computers use that electricity in a year.

If I was using that I would be cheaper with Ebico.

I changed from EoN to Ebico last year. Ebico offered the best price per KWh for my area and I kind of like the fact that they don't discriminate on 'how you pay' -i.e. if I choose to pay by standing order/online payment or even cash/cheque rather than DD, I don't pay any more than the next person.

I won't pay money upfront or provide a supplier with my bank details in order to gain a discount on my overall bill -this may be very unMSE!?!

Well, for over £300 a year they can have my bank details.

Even although the cost of gas and electricity have gone up drastically over the past couple of years I actually paid £40 less on my bill this quarter than last quarter by insulation and cutting down my usage.

Not everyone lives in a minute flat.

With all other companies the more gas/electricity you use, you pay(in effect) less per kWh. This is because you pay a lower proportion of your energy at tier 1 rates; or the daily charge has less effect.

Conversely low users paid a higher proportion.

Ebico sought to address that situation by having no Tier1 rates or standing charge and the same tariff regardless of how you paid - DD, quarterly or pre-payment. Until recently pre-payment customers paid the highest rates with a premium over standard tariffs.

So their ethos was to provide cheaper energy for those who(in general) were least able to afford gas and electricity bills.

    BINGO grab yourself a prize

apparently, not everyone uses the exact same amount of gas and electric as you, nor lives in the same region. Hard as it is to fathom for you
