Hi,
I'm thinking of going with Sky for Broadband, as they say I can get between 10meg-20meg with them unlimited on my line for £17.50 P/M. Currently I'm with O2 who promise a max of 6meg, but it ends up like 2meg most of the day. I find it strange that they could offer me such a high speed as nearly everyone else (BT, o2, TalkTalk) promise me a max of maybe 6meg, so how could Sky deliver over 10meg, if BT can't even give me this? They say I would have 8 day cooling off period after activation anyway, so I figure it's worth a shot, as if it's crappy I can always cancel.
Does anyone know if there is any cashback or refer a friend type thing I could go through if I do join Sky for just broaband or any type of promo code I should use?
Also are there any combo deals (TV etc) that I might aswell add if Im gonna pay 17.50 a month with them for just broadband?
Cheers
(Im stuck in a contact with BT for line rental btw so I cant change that over, or go with TalkTalk)

Are you on O2 Access or O2 LLU? If LLU, then you probably have an internal problem (wiring, filters, wireless connection etc) if your predicted speed is falling that far short. Have you spoken to 02 tech support? I have always found that 02 under-estimate speeds.
Sky Connect is the dire non-LLU product, you'd be crazy to ditch O2 LLU for Sky Connect at a much higher price. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Sky Broadband Unlimited (LLU) is £15/ month, or £10/month if you take Sky Talk Free.
The £17.50/ month offer is for Sky Connect broadband, which is a Non LLU BT product and is dire.
Check on Samknows if your exchange is LLU for Sky/Easynet.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Hi, I am on O2 access not LLU. Yeah spoken to their CS to no avail.
According to sam knows, my exchange is the Nottingham(Longbow) and Sky is an LLU operator on that exchange. So I guess that is good news? (Other LLUs are AOL, Bulldog, Node4, TalkTalk).
I was thinking of going with TalkTalk, but unfortunately I'm locked in with BT for 12months on the line rental, so unable to switch that. This is also the reason I didn't got with Sky for line rental.
So should my speeds be much better with Sky since it is LLU here, whereas O2 was access?0 -
Sync speed will probably be similar, however the Sky network is not prone to throttling so your effective speed may be better. Still don't know where you got £17.50 from. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

17.50 is £15 for the broadband package +£2.50 broadband surchage (which I believe is because I'm not with them for TV, or taking their Sky Talk)0

You cannot take Sky Broadband without Sky Television...
That isn't true. I signed up just for broadband, and spoke to CS about it before doing so. I asked about TV too, as I was thinking about possibly bundling this in if it wouldn't be much more, and he said that would be an extra £18, so I said I'll just take the bb then. I have now recieved the email confirming my order.0 -
It appears that this has only become available as an option within the last 4 days, how fortunate!0

Wow... Good move by Sky but I don't think £17.50 is too competitive. In your market it is, but in a decent LLU market it would struggle.0
