As I am feeling more angry now, rather than stupid and wet and emotional... I never get like that! And feel a bit cross with myself - but it was the shock, and not expecting it etc. I've got many a retort ready now.....
I'll keep it short. Coming back from a lovely long walk with Jim, nearly at entrance to park (or exit in this case!), man comes in with the 'brown westie' on a lead, Jim goes over and they do the sniffing bit, guy has phone to his ear.... I go over and the dogs are not in any way going at each other, just as I get there ready to put Jim on lead (we were going anyway). This guy (still with phone at his ear) says, "you'd better pick him up love before I get his kick face in".
I just looked up at this guy as I was putting Jim on his lead - astounded and gobsmacked. Chilled me to the bone. Just a few yards away is the 'little ones' playground. There were quite a few youngsters over the park walking dogs. If this guy - in his menacing way, put the creeps up me, what would he do to a child?
This probably sounds silly to alot of you. I've been known to throw guys out of a pub in the past - and I am not sure why this upset me so much. And I am annoyed that I never had anything quick to say back to the bar steward! Nor did I knee him in the gonads....
I've got my sense of humour back now, but I went home and cried! then my sister popped in and i cried and then i cried again in the evening! What a wuss! Went back to work on Wednesday after what was nearly a lovely five days off - feeling like sh*t. Tons better today.
Sorry - meant it to be short....
i just don't want to go back over there again, on my tod, or at all at the moment. I can still picture him standing over me looking down and saying what he did.
I'll get over it - just need some confidence back!Genie

Just read thru my last post... and it reads so trivial... its hard to explain how it was.Genie

My thought exactly! A bloke once threatened the same to my dog when I was a kid - I still see him occasionally when I pass his house, and I still bl00dy hate him! Its unexpected, uncalled for, cruel and malicious, and I'm not surprised it upset you. I think the threat to harm your small, gentle dog is somehow far harder to deal with than a threat against yourself...0 -

Could be the Norwich - had darker shades in it too.
I want to try and identify it, so can ask few other dog walkers if this guy is a regular over the park. Want to avoid him, obviously.
He's obviously all man, threatening me and a poodle...Genie

No, it's not trivial, he was threatening to do violence to your pet. Try and replace the image of him saying that with a different one - imagine him with a piano dropped on his head and his stupid feet sticking out from under it.Marsh Samphire0

Thank you - you've made me feel a bit better! It was the unexpected that probably did for me. If I had been prepared I would've really gone for it! I work in a garage with guys and they will tell you that I don't take cr4p off of anyone! Actually - when I told the guys, well, they all love Jim, so god help the bloke if he ever comes near them!Genie

Not trivial at all, my OH is reading over my shoulder and says if he heard a man speaking to a woman like that, whether he knew her or not (my OH), he'd deck him! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window
