Well first i had to provide another pic of the people in pics. Boots then said they would send me a goodwill gesture. A few months later nothing arrived so i phoned and just asked what was going on. Few days later a cheque for £150, £25 Boots voucher, and pree future processing.
Best bit was six months later the original pics turned up
That is a lovely story. So glad things worked out the way they did.0 -
and why not? if you pay some one to do work on your car,house..etc and he makes a complete mess of it you will expect him to pay for putting things right.
Dreadful comparison, and shame to the people who didn't realise that the posts re: roofing tiles are obviously jokes!
A better comparison would be that you're having a builder do some serious work to your house, but you want to get some pics of the family in it before it changes beyond recognition. So, you hire a professional photographer. But he loses the pics during processing, and by the time you know the building work has already been done.
Like the original post, your lifestyle and experience has improved (meeting friends on holiday / having house redone), but the record of this experience has been lost. It does not mean that the whole experience must be relived.
In this case, Boots should send a reasonable gesture of goodwill and make all efforts to find the photos. The £150 that another poster has mentioned sounds about right. Not enough for another trip, but enough to have some nice professional photos taken another time.

thank you very much for a nicely put comment...just to let every body know...boots foudn the photos and phones us last night...they were in their lab and not with another customer.0 -
That's what they said!
Glad you got them back though. Will you still be persuing the free holiday for the "inconvenience" they put you through? And was a staff member rude to you at any stage!
they did not say that...they said that they have given the photos to another customer and no i am not persuing any compensation even though the whole thing was inconvenient...we are relieved to get our photos and thats all..we are not opportunistic parasites as you might think0
