boots photo printing disaster!!

If you contact Boots head office you will find that they are great at sorting this sort of problem. A few years ago they lost my holiday pics. Thing was it was the last holiday with my mum

Well first i had to provide another pic of the people in pics. Boots then said they would send me a goodwill gesture. A few months later nothing arrived so i phoned and just asked what was going on. Few days later a cheque for £150, £25 Boots voucher, and pree future processing.

Best bit was six months later the original pics turned up

I had a roofer accidently knock a slate of my roof when he was fiting new gutters I think he should buy me a new house

To be fair, that's a bit extreme. Surely you would expect him to repair the slate in this case?

It was a one of a kind slate that that cant be replaced had a lot sentimental value

Bit of a daft comparison.

Because damages are difficult to assess, doesn't preclude a Court from making such an assessment.

Chances are that the T&Cs will refer to limiting claims to the value of their processing charge, and will explicitly exclude any consequential loss, which, unfortunately, will include the emotional cost of not having the pictures.

I agree with some of the above comments though. Boot's head office may well be quite generous with additional compensation.

It was an extreme example but aking for Boots to pay for the cost of an international holiday over some missing photos is a bit extreme

No but compensation over and above the cost of the film is totally justifiable.
