@bigmacman
What did you do with P45 from your job?
If you were getting approx 630 after tax amonth and having 100 tax deducted you weren't on a standard code (it sounds like your code has a restriction in it for some reason. If that was the case then the job centre won't refund as they don't have all the necessary information.
gosh i've started a bit of a conversationg here hav'ent i:rotfl:
I've got my p45 some were im sure so was i being over taxed under taxed or what im so rubbish with these things hence the post on here.
.I havent recieved mine yet as my jsa has been bodged up and im not getting it till tommorow. So duno if its gone threw i will keep you posted though hope i get it as i could do with the extra cash in fairness0 -
Riteo just found my P45 up and it says the following
TAX CODE at leaving date :653L
total to pay to date-£7464.27
total tax to date-£486.60
so does that make sense was that the right tax code ect0 -
Although there is some confusion over the process I'm pretty sure that you should have passed your P45s to someone (the JobCentre?) when you started on JSA to have got your tax refunds.
If you didn't do this you will need to provide your P60U and your P45 to the tax office in order for them to work out the refund.
As you have earned above your tax free amount you should get a tax refund but it won't be of the whole £486.60.0 -

According to listentotaxman you should have:
Income: £7464.27
NI: £191.87
Income Tax: 197.85
Total: £389.72
Does your total tax to date inc NI?0 -
You make some very fair points. However, to suggest I may go on the phone to HMRC " with all guns blazing " is unfair.
Surely people can understand my frustration and desperation. I have actually been officially served a " Notice of Eviction " this is for May 4th.
Thats fair, you've every right to be frustrated, emotional, desperate... god knows I would be, I suggested you may go on the phone with an attitude, all I'm saying is that if you are strong BUT calm you'll get a better response from the advisor, but what I will say is that the contact centre advisor will only be able to speed it all up for you by sending an email to the office that would deal with your claim, by all means ask them to get the main office to call you back once they look at the email so you know whats happening so you can then provide that info to the mortgage company.
What i've done in the past is given my full name to the taxpayer, so that they can contact the mortgage company with some proof that you're chasing the refund, its not ideal but if you can provide a name, date and time you spoke to HMRC will that not go somewhere to showing you're trying.
I do hope you get sorted, you never know you might come through to me tomorrow!!!

If you have the P45 from your previous employer you will need to send it to your tax office along with the P60U from the job centre. You can't hand it into the job centre now. He's not an accountant - he's a charlatan0 -
okie dokie thank you for the advice ill get on the case straight away then i wont be so far back in the cue lol0

Have you tried ringing them? Not sure if you will be able to get through but hopefully you will get through and can get someone to speed things along for you.
I will call tomorrow. Yes I am desperate. It is not as if I will be using the money for a holiday or something else nice. It may just be the difference between me keeping my home or not.
I have tried to be patiet, but my mortgage company do not work that way.
I visited my local tax office. They gave me a number to call. This number was for a JCP departnent. The lady informed me that for people on JSA tax rebates are processed through their system. This is done on two seperate " runs. " These take place on 24th April and 8th May. As both of these dates are Saturday`s, I can only assume this is done so as not to interfere with core business. I feel I may at last be getting somewhere.0
