As I said earlier, it is a 30 second calculation.
Yet you clearly failed to read the post from trevormax which pointed out that that simply wasn't the case at all.

Yea yea, ok. Not such a simple calculation apparently.

    Seriously c'mon.

I appreciate your frustration at not getting your tax back sooner than you expected. Thats a lot of money to most people employed or not. But please, the staff at the tax office are not on a lot of money (contrary to reports in the media), I take home just over £900 per month and i've worked there 7 years, have no employer benefits and i'm classed as a Revenue Officer (co-incidently the majority of us have to claim tax credits to up our income)!!!! So if I was expecting 800 quid back i'd want it too.

But the thing is and as pointed out by prev posters, its taking time for a reason, theres obviously some info missing on your 09/10 income so thats why it hasnt been released.

Please call the tax office and see whats missing? But please dont have the attitude you've shown on here because to be blunt, if you spoke to me on the phone in this manner I would not want to help you.
  • My husband has been waiting since July of last year to sort out an overpayment of tax, we contacted the tax office who informed us that they didn't have a record of his P45 from his employer and advised us to wait until the end of the tax year. We still haven't received a refund but I have written a letter on behalf of my husband showing the calculations of the refund owed and have included his copy of the P45 and also his wk 52 wage slip.

I realise that it is not the tax offices fault as his previous employer didn't fill in his P45 properly and also his new employer refused to use the P45 to show his previous earnings on his wage slips, had they done this the refund would be automatically being done via his wages.

Sometimes people just need to be a bit patient and realise that they are not the only ones desperate for a refund.

Bob - I can understand the desperation, sadly the tax office is not always as fast as we all want and need it to be - currently they owe me about £400 pounds (a months wages).
Have you tried ringing them? Not sure if you will be able to get through but hopefully you will get through and can get someone to speed things along for you.

You go on repeatedly about how your circumstances are such that you need your repayment as soon as possible, yet you don't seem to consider that others may be in similar circumstances and ahead of you in the queue. If you want people to show some humanity, might I suggest showing some yourself?

I will call tomorrow. Yes I am desperate. It is not as if I will be using the money for a holiday or something else nice. It may just be the difference between me keeping my home or not.
I have tried to be patiet, but my mortgage company do not work that way.

To whom exactly? I can only comment on others circumstances as and when i am made aware of them. I would obviously sympathize with anybody threatened with eviction etc. You on the other hand come accross as " hard nosed "

All I am trying to do is dig my way out of my current predicament. My future is very uncertain and quite scary. Excuse me if I come accross as brash. I think that is only to be expected.

You make some very fair points. However, to suggest I may go on the phone to HMRC " with all guns blazing " is unfair.

Surely people can understand my frustration and desperation. I have actually been officially served a " Notice of Eviction " this is for May 4th. Why would I not come accross as desperate?

A lump sum of money looks like being my last hope of retaing my home.

I would recommend that the best way to get this as quickly as possible is to be persistent as the people you are dealing with at the tax office deal with loads of requests and complaints and won't share your urgency until it's more difficult for them to fob you off than help you.
