Hi Dribblers, thought I might get a quicker (and friendlier!) response from you than on the Gas and Electric board; I was supposed to send British Gas a meter reading a while ago but forgot, left it too late then we had a massive gas bill that we've had to do a payment plan for (really struggling to just live atm, need to do the money diet or whatever it is) - cos couldn't pay it all at once; is it possible for me to belatedly ask them to accept a meter reading and recalculate? I don't want to feel foolish on the phone :) have got a very grumpy baby and three year-old today, baby wants to be constantly in my lap - maybe teeth coming...and three year-old wants a nap but won't sleep if she gets one. She also told me this morning that 'skirts are stupid', which I would have completely agreed with at her age lol. Love the welly story jo! xx

  • Hi Mabel -

Hope I didnt come across as harsh - its just I am fully aware of how much these little extra's do cost (more in terms of time!) than you realise.

In the past I sold a large quantity of small items - and would just charge the actual postage cost - however it takes me 30 minutes to go to the post office, queue up and return at best.

This is time the business was losing which at the time was charged at £50 an hour...... As soon as you start realising I was losing £25 a day of productive time - it soon turned into £125 a week of lost revenue without bad queues at the post office.... You can calculate the rest I am sure.

Since then Every P&P Charge includes a little extra for the time I use posting it. Friend or Foe. I have even now calculated in the cost of the sticky label from the label printer costs....
    £4142.49/ £131,795.91 - 3.14% paid off or only £129,608.80 to go!
    Debt free by Xmas 2015: #182 £1955.38/£4435.51 (44.08%)

Hi Paula, absolutely. they need to base it on actual readings if possible.
only concern would be if your meter shows you've used even more than estimate. even then I guess its better to work on real figures than estimates as would catch up with you eventually.
Sounds like a day for cuddling up with books and dvds to me.

ps not sure if they'll change the amounts on your payment plan or not but if theydon't you should at least end up paying it off sooner.

Ooh, did you win it? Or meet him? I can do it just by going through everything on here can't I, I always think the forums have tons of info anyway, am going to get more Old Style and go through everything on here carefully to see where we could save. I wouldn't like to borrow it as a) we never get borrowed things back on time and b) many many accidents could happen to it in this madhouse. But thank you very much for the offer! :) xx

Neither! Rememebr last year when they did the car insurance challenge to see how much you could get fully comp insurance for with cashback? i got mine for £30 quid and admin PM'd me to see if I'd mind my username being mentioned on It Pays to Watch as one of the lowest ones. Ended up not being used coz they were short of time so I cheekily emailed Martin and asked for a gold piggy bank as compensation for my trauma and lack of fame and he sent me a signed book instead :-)

You can only ask - they may be helpful if you say you completely forgot about it etc., etc - they may not be helpful, but don't worry about feeling foolish on the phone - you'll never see them and probably never speak to them again so give it a try - you won't know unless you do! (You may be pleasantly surprised)

Right, taking a little break. Listened to Usher’s album which was OMG – mediocre if I am generous, rubbish if I am truthful. Hole’s new album is really good though, the title track Nobody’s daughter is great. But, lord god that woman is crazier than a box of frogs.

Not too bad on the to-do list front, made a good dent into it and I have the joy having the house to myself tonight; OH is going out for drinkies. Bubble bath, hot chocolate with Marshamallows and Dairy Milk: Here I come!

Mrs Money – sorry that you are having a crappy time at the moment. Don’t give up the day job, every little helps as they say and you never know what is going to happen next in life sometimes. If it hadn’t been for dribbling – I wouldn’t have dreamed of starting my business but being here and speaking to everyone each day has really renewed my confidence. And for the first time in a long time I feel positive about the future. We all have our moments, but it always gets better.

Nixi – Thanks hun, you’re response really made me smile. For me it just feels like loads of fun, it barely feels like work. The nice part for me is talking to people from all over the world. I seem to travel the world in photographs at the moment! Just can’t wait to get your site up and running.

Mrs Money is there no way of selling the books as a job lot on ebay?
I don’t blame you on the Nielsen survey, it does seem a bit much in terms of the information that they. Better out than in Mrs Money, better out than in.

PaulaB - Hope that the bill gets sorted Paula B, I hate energy companies. As soon as I get a chance the first one to go will be leccy, when I have paid off everything. I want a solar panel! And well if flatulence could be counted as natural gas, the OH can take responsibility for the gas supply.

YummyMummy – hope it gets better soon (((hugs)))
