  • Woohoo for 99p buckets, got 2 lots the other day.

I did split the bottoms of some of them but the soil stayed in, oh well just extra drainage I guess.

At the moment have 3 sweetcorn plants in each, but I'm thinking it may not be enough room as I assume they are going to be pretty big full sized plants!
Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!

I got some about 3 weeks ago. There was just one lot left, for 99p. When I got home and counted them there were 12 large pots and 6 smaller ones - amazing value.
Most of them are now holding an assortment of veg.

    various salads in mine!
  • I have only just got a water butt and not got around to attaching it to the drain pipe so today I put all the empty flower pots around the yard as we had rain ( my current plants loved their natural feeding :)) every little helps...

My nephew said he will drill some holes for me - they all know what I'm like with power tools :S

I got a bit carried away with my planting in the flower buckets and forgot to drill holes in them. Trying to do it when they're full was rather entertaining and much easier with two people... :rotfl:

(I think my husband was worried I'd drill through my leg. A possiblity it has to be said, I'm rather accident prone!)

i got 15 in my batch - they're a mixture of two sizes as well.

i used a hot screwdriver (heated on gas cooker hob) to poke holes in the bottom of mine.

My sister in laws dad has been using them for a few years to grow all his greenhouse crops in and he swears by them. This will be the first year I have tried them, so am looking forward to seeing the results. They really are a bargain at 99p. I used a red hot screwdriver to make the drainage holes. It was like a knife going through butter.

  • I got some of the buckets from Morrisons, too. I'm an amatuer flower arranger so they've come in very handy :-)
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!
