Haven Holidays refund advice

Hi all - Need some help with getting my money back from Haven for a shocking 3 night break I have just came back from

See my letter below - I need help on what to add to my letter from a legal point or just some way to make them see I wasn't happy and want my money back.

Holiday Reference –
2nd April – 5th April – Lakeland Park

FAO: John Dunford,
I am writing to complain about the above holiday from which I have just returned with my partner. It was most disappointing for several reasons below;
1. Floor not hovered or cleaned in bathroom, living room or Kitchen.
2. Fire place, bedrooms and living room were not dusted.
3. The window in the double room did not close – there was a 4cm gap.
4. The curtains in the double room did not close and there was a large gap
5. The front door to the caravan did not close properly there was a large gap (I could actually see outside from the gap) and the caravan was cold because of this gap.
6. The kitchen sink was full of toast bits.
7. The fridge was still at 5 degree – even though the cleaners had ticked the sheet to say they had cleaned it and put back to 1 degree.
8. There was a cigarette burn in the living room settee even though I booked a non-smoking caravan.
9. Large white stain on the front inside door of the caravan.

I took photos of these problems – please see below for my photographs.

I straight away contacted the Park reception by phone 3 times and in person to request cleaners. The attitude of the cleaners is disgusting when they came back to clean- they still didn’t fulfil my request. I was told by the Park Manager to let the cleaners in and go and grab something to eat or drink – he didn’t offer me any food or drink voucher.

I am asking for a full refund of £179.99 – I do not want any free upgrade vouchers or apology letter.

I look forward to your reply and receiving a refund of my holiday.

Yours sincerely

If it was that bad why did you stay 3 nights?

Personally if it was that bad and i couldn't be moved into a different caravan I would have returned home.
you can't expect a FULL refund when you had a full holiday there.

To be honest, apart from the door and window gapes, the rest really is cosmetic is it not ?
We had a 7 night stay at a park in Scotland, not Haven ;), and we were moved on the second day after complaining (noise/neds) and eventually left after 4 nights.....spoke to manager at time and filled in a complaint, followed this up with a phone call and then eventually got a 50% cheque refund.
Why did you not speak to the staff at the time ? Ask to be moved ?
I hope you get it sorted but they will wonder why you waited until you were home to complain and not at the time ?

From my experience you wont go any where with this unless you paid for it on a credit card or can go the whole way with trading standards.

I had a terrible holiday with them 2 years ago. Final straw that broke the camels back was the cleaners banging on doors at 7.30 on departure day to demand we left asap so they could get in and work and leave the new occupants bedding. We gave all the information to the CS team who said oh thats a shame. I wrote a written complaint whilst still on site which was meant to be looked into and i also wrote one to head office when i got home. In the end i decided not to use them again. Gone are the days of value for money its now a quick buck and a turn around of customers who are daft enough to part with good/hard earned money.

I did complain to the site staff a few times. We didn't leave because it's the only break we will get and was a 2.5 hour drive for us!

The site was full - there were no upgrades to a different class of caravan at all.

I stayed in a superior caravan.

Blimey, sounds terrible. I'd go all the way for a full refund.

Sound like the caravan I stayed in at the Golden Coast at Woolacombe Bay - totally disgusting. i wrote them a letter only to vent my anger & to inform them I'd never ever return & vowed to mention on the internet how bad they were.

I then got a letter from the park manager saying he'd "personally deal with my booking the next time we visited". Was he totally blind to the fact he had a disgusting holiday park & that I said I'd never return?!?!?!?

That is why I stay aways from Haven/Butlins & the likes & stick to what i know at Centre Parcs!!!

    Good luck!!

As I have stated on the other thread, why would a company give you a full refund when you have stated you don't want vouchers (which gives of the intention that you won't be returning). As I said as a company if I know you are a lost cause then I would not refund you
    Always ask ACAS

I wouldn't stay in a Haven park again either - we went to Perran Sands and our chalet was disgusting. The mattress was stained, and everything was generally grimy and shabby.
