Hand rolling Tobacco, who would be daft paying dosh for a box of fags these days!
I could afford the £100.00 a week on fags if I decided, however thats my affairs0 -

I agree we won't go past the day we are destined to, but I think you can go before it and lets face it we all want to go peacefully in our sleep.
My father died of heart failure not smoking or weight related but the doctors told us it would be exactly the same with emphysaemia ie lungs filling up with fluid, in effect drowning.
So giving up the ciggies could at least rule out that particular exit.
You know roll ups is the absolute worst form of smoking, and the cost is really to your health not your pocket, that's only money and smokers will always find the money somehow.0 -

Yes, they will always find the money somehow by neglecting other things. They will always find endless excuses too, why they can't/won't/shouldn't give it up.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0 -

My elderly Mum (82) has COPD & emphysema and still smokes 20 cigarettes a day. We've tried for years to get her to give up but it's impossible. She suffers from depression & is such an anxious person and she just couldn't cope without a cigarette. She can't walk very far without becoming very breathless. She has to use a nebuliser twice a day to aid her breathing. She started smoking at 16 and regrets that she ever started but she hasn't the willpower to smoke plus she actually enjoys it. I've never smoked in my life and can't see any attraction plus the thought of all that money going up in smoke would break my heart.0

Is she getting help for the depression and anxiety? My husband takes anti depressants and has tranquillizers available for occasional use.0 -
I will stop one day maybe. I enjoy a smoke, had family members smoke with cancer til they died.
Maybe it would be a good idea to cut down, however to go cold Turkey no chance. I've had family die of Cancer etc whom never smoked. It's your luck, what is for you shall not go by you.
what a fantastic attitude you have! if you're a man i presume you're looking forward to the impotence that will probably happen to you, the amputations that you may suffer and the oxygen you will be hooked up to.
sorry but after watching my dad struggle to breath with emphesema and have fluid manually drained off his lungs because they no longer worked properly i think you are totally nuts - dad didnt die of lung cancer or any other sort. he died because he worked as a miner and was a very heavy smoker for many years - when he was young everyone smoked and people were encouraged to smoke this is not the case now!
me and oh both work and we couldnt spend what you do on fags'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -
My wonderful mum died from COPD but she refused to give up smoking,it was her decision and i respected it,as long as she was happy,it's coming up for 3 years soon and it still hurts like hell. But i still continue to smoke and hate myself each time i light up,but it is not easy to stop it is after all an addiction. My girls get cross with me all the time for smoking and yes i feel guilty but still i do it.Not for the devil of it simply because i can't give up.:o:(0
