I've just checked back and I used the following service to obtain and forward certificated copies of the licence from the Clark County Office (as I said above, they don't accept credit card orders which is pretty inconvenient when you're back in the UK. In the US, you send them their version of a postal order, but that ain't much use from here.)

They were pretty efficient. I think I paid about £20 ish for 2 copies, which included the Clark country fee, and the postage back to here. I think I received the certificates within a week or so. You need to tell them the names, dates and place of marriage, or as much as you know.

    Good luck.

    Hi

    *** CORRECTION ***

My apologies Whyohwhy. In the two years since we got married, they seem to have changed their ordering process and will now accept CCs. Here's a link.

Once you've got the certificate, then a "quickie" divorce, on the grounds of separation for 2 years, sounds easiest - assuming both parties agree. You won't need a solicitor unless there is anything contentious (property, children.)

Start off here - there's a link to download the petition form:

Jeez this is turning into a real nightmare! mickeypops, how did you pay if they don't accept CC payments?

    Thanks

They do - use the link I posted - "You may order documents online using a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express)"

This may be an urban myth too, but did you and your husband ever do the 'business', or could you get the marriage annulled on the grounds of non-consummation? (I don't really know what I am talking about and am too lazy to google it!)

I was wondering something similar. Have you looked into the possibility of getting it annulled? Or is this only applicable within a set time?
