So now I have to find a girl and get married to be able to live somewhere?

    Or live on the streets?

    No thanks to either option

EDIT - and for what it's worth I do deserve a better income for going to uni. Maybe not better than somebody who left work straight after school as they have worked up the ladder. But better than the wage I was on and not happy with that made me have a second crack at going to uni in the first place. Everybody said it was the right thing to do, it was just expected that I went. I worked hard and got into debt for years to gain that qualification. And now I'm no better off than where I was, worse really. I'd have been better getting a trade or starting off somewhere after school and working my way up with time served. For jobs at the bottom I'm overlooked as I'm over qualified. For Mid range jobs, companies aren't offering decent pay as I came into the job market at the wrong time, and any that do offer ok pay when advertised always come back with a lower offer, and the top jobs I can't get 'cos I don't have the experience. I'd be better off jacking everything in and becoming a benefit scrounging scumbag. It's that which gets me so riled up.

But if you’re single and childless you will get very little on benefits.

Unfortunately with so many people doing degrees, a degree has been devalued and you now need a degree to get a job that you could have got with a couple of o-levels.

I realise it’s difficult to buy a property but a single person on below average earnings has never been able to buy a property in the south east

Interesting reply, you saying this crash is over?

We are at the top of any bubble in real terms for me. 2004-2005 saw what the reasonable max lenders were able to lend in the good times. Between 2005-2007 we saw the real lax lending from lenders as they tried to maximise profits as convential lending was drying up. We are not going to see that type of lending again in our life time so todays prices give or take a few % is the max real term prices we are liekly to see in the forseeable future.

As for whether the crash is over it all depends whether you believe GB and AD that the recession is really over and lots of growh of 3% is to come over the next few years. If they are right and its big if for me then crash maybe over. To many ifs and buts for me.

You always hear people complaining that they cant afford houses as there too expensive, even though its true that they are dammed expensive, but surely the issue is that YOU cant afford a house coz your on a crap wage. Whose fault is that?

why complain that house prices are really really high, why not complain that you wage is really really low?

i dont think the price i paid for my flat is that high, for the area and type of property its an ok price.

I do however complain (to myself) that my wage is really low and due to this, everything seems expensive.

    your thoughts?

I wonder which of the resident bulls this is

but you have to weigh it up as any other commodity, if you choose a subject that is popular, or is so watered down, as to appeal to the not really intelligent enough to get into Uni, then dont expect to be able to earn a higher income

Uni was originally aimed at people going into professions where you needed to specialise or have an a more indepth knowledge than the joe plebs straight out of school

Going to Uni to study subjects that are basically the same as what you could have learnt inhouse are a total waste of time - ie sports science, media, marketing and finance, they are bland, all encompassing subjects, with no real backbone

Not really sure on your comment that you expect to earn more for going to Uni, but in the next breath, say you dont expect to earn more than someone straight out of school. As ive already said, too many people assume that just by going to Uni they will earn a higher wage. you say your old job paid badly, but maybe just a change in field would have resulted in a higher income, without the need for going to Uni
