I understand completely that you are angry and upset that your child has been injured and do feel you are right to complain, it would surely not go amiss for Matalon to offer apology and as you say a small toy for the child.
But I must say we surely have a responsibility ourselves to check that clothing is safe for our children (in my case Grandkids) to wear. Since having a nasty experience some years ago with a zip puller that was very sharp, luckly cutting myself before I even put it on my daughter I always check metal bits and even buttons very carefully. Mistakes do happen . I also check seams for nasty scratchy threads(invisable nylon thread was once very popular and could be absolute hell to wear.

One thing thats worse that posters wanting compensation for nothing is posters who immediately assume the OP want millions in compensation for something and make sarcastic, rude and arrogant comments towards them. Seems Anihilator has a contagious affect on some people......
OP whilst this isnt the most serious thing in the world( i realise you never claimed it to be) this is serious enough for you to receive perhaps a gesture of good will for the sake of good customer service. Maybe a small gift voucher or a hefty discount and an apology. I think that would be fair and would be a good move on their behalf. After all, it is things like this that cause infections if went un-noticed.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

Thank you to all the people who took time to reply after my last post. I assumed it was pretty obvious i wasent looking to make a major deal out of it but i also dont see why my daughter should have her leg cut open because of a faulty product. I also assumed it was obvious i wasent looking for millions ( im sure she would be happy with a £5 toy which would cover my petrol and time of having to go back and fill in forms with the manager ect and if she is happy then so am i )
Having never dealt with anything like this before i wasent sure what rights i had hence why i asked here. My thanks to the first few posters though, i do enjoy these posts where trolls have it backfire on them and they end up looking more stupid than they were actually trying to make the original poster look

Chances are that by now your daughter has forgotten about her scratch. Had you thought it suitable, you could have bought her a small toy as a treat at the time of the accident. Instead you are going to wait until the retailer gets back to you, which could take a few weeks, and then present a toy to your child to remind them that they were upset a few weeks ago.
I think you need to reassess your motivations in reporting this issue.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I would suggest that if its a possible design or manufacturer problem, that head office could investigate, if they discover yours was not the only pair with the problem, they may want to recall the jeans. Other customers may be much more demanding than you!0

Chances are that by now your daughter has forgotten about her scratch. Had you thought it suitable, you could have bought her a small toy as a treat at the time of the accident. Instead you are going to wait until the retailer gets back to you, which could take a few weeks, and then present a toy to your child to remind them that they were upset a few weeks ago.
I think you need to reassess your motivations in reporting this issue.
Probably a bit unfair really. Its slightly more than just returning a faulty item.
My mother in law once caught her shin on a shopping trolley, she was taken to customer services for the first aider, they filled in the accident sheet (with her name and address) and the next day she recieved a bunch of flowers as an apology..and she had only asked for a plaster!0 -

The recent replies are about par for the course - don't let them stress you out. I would certainly expect something more than a straight refund - your child was hurt and probably upset and a goodwill gesture to cheer her up would most certainly be in order.ELITE 5:2

I had a problem with a dress I bought from Next for my daughter a few years ago. The hole for her head to go through was too small and hurt her trying to get it on and off. Sent it off to customer services and got a full refund and a small toy, which as you say is just a small apology for a child if they have been hurt. Costs very little but will keep a customer returning if they believe the shops actually care about them.0
