Dangerous Jeans Purchased From Matalan

Bought my 5 year old daughter a pair of jeans from Matalan, next day put them on her and she started crying (assumed she was being silly) she took them down and they had cut her leg. On inspection one of the studs that holds the back pocket on was all bent out of shape and really sharp, Took them back to Matalan who offered me refund but i said i would rather wait until their head office has had a look at them and see what they say as if i took a refund i gave up all my rights as a consumer ( i assume )
Im pretty mad they actually cut my daughters leg and the manager of the local store said she was shocked the jeans had got on to the shelf, should i ask for anything other than a refund if they get in touch over this? If so what?
thanks

It was an accident
Assurance Matalan have ensured it was a one off and not a fault in manufacture should be enough
What do you want?0 -
Did your daughter suffer any financial loss as a result of being cut by the jeans?0

In future, don't buy rubbish from Matalan.
That will COMPENSATE you enough.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
I think you should get Trading Standards involved immediately, and hopefully they will go round there with the Police and break the doors down. A couple of days in the slammer for the staff will teach them a lesso. As far as I can see, this is negligent child abuse. The perpetrators should serve a minimum of 50 years.0

Id see what they offer you. I would imagine they would offer more than a refund once head office get involved (or at least IMO they should.)
Id also be inclined to ignore the sarcastic reponses. I sometimes wonder why people bother responding to a valid question if all they have to say is utter nonsense.:smileyhea0 -
Your daughter will be entitled to compensation for her injury under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.
It won't be a great deal of money as it sounds like a fairly minor injury and probably not worth getting a solicitor involved.
Why not write to them and see what they say?0 -

Which part of the Consumer Protection Act states that??
Basically your rights as a consumer are to a refund/replacement (your choice), anything else would be out of goodwill.0 -
