Hugh is making slug satay. I'm not sure even Shirley is that desperate

I love HFW :) Although not so keen on his slug recipe idea!

We had this for our tea tonight and it was delicious http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1267/spicy-vegetable-chapati-wraps. I made the chapatis again to cut costs and I used nettles instead of expensive baby spinach. I thought you might be able to frugalise it even more if you used ordianary potatoes instead of sweet potatoes and a mixture of the usual Shirley spices instead of curry paste. I'd definitely make it again :D

I remember that - the one thing I've ever seen that man eat that he said he would not be making/eating again.

Just in case anyone was tempted.....

    I think I'm with you! will a fruit-giving shirl be willing to do a 50p month if there's 2 a day?

If I was that person then yes I would, especially with your nutritional input.

I think that as Kitty’s planner isn’t live yet, there is still a little while before deciding exactly what to do next.

And as I still think that the most value would be gained by adding the nutritional boxes to the individual recipes next, which would give quite a few more weeks before deciding if to do Shirl and/or Kitty a second month’s complete plan, or doing more recipes & tools, or doing Weezl’s plan.

When Weezl’s plan was suggested I thought that this would be an excellent thing to do. But I also agreed with the concerns that as most people are indoctrinated with the five-a-day thing that if it was not there then it obviously wasn’t healthy.

I remember the media reports about ‘muesli belt malnutrition’ (thought didn’t realise it was called that) & parents allegedly starving their children inadvertently through a ‘healthy diet’ of lots of fruit & veg, wholemeal bread, pasta etc, and reduced fat dairy. As this is not a healthy diet for a growing child.

Today’s discussions have been very interesting & I totally agree that if the RDAs are met it doesn’t matter if it comes from the ‘5-a-day’ or not. And I agree with Amber that Avocet’s suggested introduction is excellent. So I would say go for it!

gosh, 2nd ridiculous refereeing thing at the world cup today!!

Avocet's intro was most excellent and should a weezl planner ever go forward (which i totally support in the name of subsistence in the face of grievious debt), it should most definitely preface it. Also, v interesting about the 5 a day, which i'm not sure if it's an upbringing thing, but i never subscribed to much anyway?

Lurking on my phone, so more detailed comments will need to wait for morning :)

Thanks for the link. I love sweet potatoes, so I think this is one to try with sweet potatoes and ordinary potatoes. Do you think you could just use garam masala instead of curry paste and it be ok, or would there be more to it than that. I like the idea of making chapatis as well.
    Thanks

You're welcome. I thought I'd share it because several of the ingredients are used in the meal planners. I used a couple of tbsp of curry paste from a jar that has been lurking in our fridge for ages but I can't see why ordinary spices wouldn't work. It would be different, but I'm sure it would be just as nice :)
