re last nights chat about people not counting onion and tomatoes, would this kinda info help:

Canned tomatoes have even more health benefits than fresh tomatoes. Lycopene, a pigment that is responsible for the tomatoes' red color, is one of several carotenoids (a group of antioxidants) that may help to decrease the risk of heart disease and certain cancers. The processing method used in canning tomatoes causes the release of a greater amount of lycopene than what is usually found in raw tomatoes.

It's not that i don't want to count them NOW but that i never ould have thought about counting them before. (onions for me, anyway) ignorance rather than contrariness :)

Oh and i was thinking it may be helpful for someone to condense last night's discussion into action points so everyone is clear on what they volunteered to do. Suspiciously like minutes, which i said i would not do, LOL, but i will if no one else wants to. (it's the formatting i hate, which i rather think you will let me get away with ;))

ok just reflecting on the work involved in some of the things we discussed last night, here are my best guesses as to amount of working time they would take. Just so's we only move forward with the things which are definitely a priority in helping shirley:

putting cals, fat, iron and calcium onto every recipe: approx 45 working hrs

Shirley month 2: 110 working hours assuming I bought nutmeg software and everyone was happy to do the same work as before (ie if lesley did nutrition, Juliette did cook/prep times and you all tested recipes) this also assumes that shirl month 2 doesn't have to be vastly different from month 1 in respect of key recipe ingredients.

Okay, I've been mulling this over to make sure that my response is a considered one rather than a knee-jerk reaction, and here is what I think:

Shirley month two would be brilliant. However, I think that recipe-by-recipe nutritional info would be better, and more urgent. Reason why - it increases confidence in us for novice Shirleys; makes the website look more professional; gives a glimpse to detractors of just how much work went into creating the plan; plus provides valuable info to a Shirley or a Kitty on how to balance out their own meals when they are learning to fish.

A month two - while priceless to the people who fully buy into the concept - would do little to turn around fence-sitters and detractors who are fence-sitters and detractors through ignorance; that is to say, recent feedback makes me think that a lot of people think that this was just a bunch of people looking around Asda to see what's cheapish and the throwing together a plan that kinda fits together. Fun, but hardly revolutionary. Plus I could do it better cos I'd not use silly ready brek stuff and horrible rapeseed oil.

Do another month of that, and you've done nothing to make it clearer just how carefully put together the plans are - in fact, you are making it look even easier - oh look, she's knocked another one up in her dinner break. Put all the info in though, and I believe you will turn around and reassure the majority of those who have genuine nutrition concerns but inadequate knowledge to back them up.

That was my opinion, now for everyone else's.... :)

    :)
I've wondered this too allegra, and also picked up on this perception.

please-why/how is the site giving this impression?

(it's hard for me to 'see' it clearly due to my closeness to the project.)

Perhaps someone could delurk and say? xx
