It's gorgeous food. Tastes nothing like school dinners!!
I don't know how the free school meals work though.0 -
I think that might be incorrect, Susan - DD's friend gets free school meals, and her mum is working and in receipt of wtc - so it can't be just income support (or whatever that's called nowadays) and jobseeker's.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die"0 -
Either that or I got the wrong end of the stick and it's not wtc she's getting, which is quite possible
Thanks guys, the mystery is solved.... Ish

DD has explained that the dinner ladies make the children take a piece of fruit or a small pot of salad as well as the main meal, so presumably this is included in whatever nutritional calculations have been done.
Although DD said that she always eats her fruit (she would say that wouldn’t she!), quite a lot of the children don’t, though she is not sure how many. They swap & share, aren’t made to clear their plates & there is quite a lot of waste. So clearly they won’t get exactly what has been calculated for them even if they always have school dinners.0 -

If the dinner ladies asked DDs friends to take either an apple or a piece of cake with sultanas in (and if it was a nice cake!) does she think more of her friends would eat it?
(and please thank her for helping the doughnut lady to understand more things)

She said, yes, she thinks more of her friends would eat the cake.
Then she said, thanks a lot I'm hungry now! Stormed off to the kitchen, and is now eating - fruit!0 -
