I just wanted to suggest homemade chapatis as a really frugal (and insanely filling!) thing to make. I have just made some lovely soft ones (first two attempts were cooked for too long and went too crispy!) As it is just flour and water and a tiny bit of salt and oil, I thought I'd suggest it to you all! :D

On the bottom of the CFR homepage there is a facebook logo, and on the left of it there's a link ( "cheap family recipes", underlined) that will take you to the CFR FB page.

Arty, does Skype as IM involve downloading a large piece of software ?

I am just coming to the end of my batch cooking, I didn't get as much done as I'd hoped, but i'm sure it will get quicker as I get used to the recipes

    Now also made

potato and onion soup-still in slow cooker, but had a taste and its tasty

pizza-just finishing off, i've made three very large ones. I've just whizzed the sauce in the processor as my onions looked a bit too big and i've used two cans of plum tomatoes and it looks plenty to cover the three of them

Chicken & onion pie-this was meant to go in the freezer, but hubbie dished it out for tea by mistake, everyone thought it was very tasty, I didn't have enough pastry for the top so used mash instead. Mixed reviews on the pastry so think I would make ordinary pastry next time.

One thing I've noticed that the chicken and onion pie is down twice this week and next and two roast chicken dinners, this has to come from the one chicken so you might as well make the two pies at the same time, might be worth mentioning on the recipe as it says to use what filling you have over for the gravy. Alot people who hadn't heard of rubber chicken might consider a chicken as one meal so may need to be made clear it has to streeetch, apologies if it was and staring me in the face though, i have bits of paper with recipes on everywhere at the mo :D

I meant say how professional the website looks, well done to those tweaking it :T

Thanks for the reply Allegra, but there's no FB logo on any pages of the CFR site that I'm looking at

And the only thing that is underlined on the homepage is Email us here. Have you created a new web site that I don't know about?

Hippeechiq - are you using Safari as your viewer? I am having a similar problem, sometimes I see it and sometimes I don't

Pinkhayley - just thought of an alternative recipe using the ingredients from Kitty's planner. A frugalised version of red pepper oven baked risotto http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/7700/ovenbaked-red-pepper-risotto. I've made it loads of times using the Lidl Roasted peppers and it's really filling and tasty.

Can I ask which Asda roasted red peppers Kitty is getting? Are they in oil or juice. Just a thought because if they are in oil Kitty could use the oil from the jar in the red pepper houmous rather than oil from the oil supply. If she is using the oil or the juice from the jar in any other recipes then all recipes which use red peppers need to say drain peppers and retain the liquid otherwise Kitty might throw away the precious tasty juice. I only say this because I noticed earlier on the thread that Lesley had mentioned using the juice in soups.
