I'll try that again!
ok ponder this: originally we thought shirl/kitty would do the full month and then need some extra cheap recipes for variety.
Now we're thinking that she starts with some cheap recipes and gradually trusts us and works up to the full thing, is that right?
If so, can people see my point that the website isn't quite navigating right, and needs to have more of an easy-in, getting you started with a few frugal recipes page (s)

ooh ooh aless don't go I was just thinking about you!
what URL should I put (on the website)from this image so that each user goes straight to the CFR page:
and do people think that this should be on the homepage? And above or below 'contact us'?

Thursday or Friday around 7.45 is ok with me."When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us" Alexander Graham Bell0

morag/aless/anyone who thought 'recipes' should contain all shirley's recipes, all kitty's and all our enticing shirley in recipes (approximately 100-150 in total). I like your idea, but as with everything with a website, it creates other quandries we must work round.:)
Please can you have a think about the following quandry:
there would be 2/3 very similar but not identical versions of the same recipe, which would be confusing?
ie if you went for the first time to a website for recipes and their index looked like this, would it not be a bit strange:
breakfast pancakes
breakfast pancakes (2)
breakfast pancakes (3)
to me, that seems as though we made it, thought it was a bit rubbish, so had another go! Which isn't what we're saying!
Also how does the user know which of them to pick?
quandry 2:
150 rows of recipes will look very daunting all shown at once and would mean A LOT of horizontal scrolling. Will the user get daunted and immediately bounce away?
(long contents pages have been shown to create an immediate 'bounce' away from the page. Caused by option paralysis.)
I'd very much appreciate as many people's thoughts as poss before I decide which way to go

Hello Everyone!
Firstly Weezl I am touched that you would include me in an online meeting as I don’t feel I have contributed much. Unfortunately DH and I will be travelling to Scotland to visit the in laws and DS2 and his wife - a brief tour of Scottish cities (Glasgow and Edinburgh) on Wednesday and we are away for the week. So I thought it was high time that I explained how I found you and CFR and why I think it’s such an important and immensely impressive project.
Like arty ,my personal nemesis is bread, my wholemeal bricks are the stuff of family legend. My colleague introduced me to MSE, I found weezl’s 50p a day thread and the rest as they say is history. In the last couple of years we have paid off our mortgage ( March 2010) and I can now turn out a good white loaf, the granary is improving, the wholemeal is still a brick but weezl has taught me to use some lateral thinking and my chapattis to go with a bean curry and saag aloo are nomnomnom. I am not the Shirl you have designed the website for, but I really believe everyone can learn to fish more efficiently by using the ideas, recipes and plans that you are developing.
I work in St Leonards part of Hastings in Sussex. It’s a deprived area with high unemployment, large numbers of immigrant asylum seekers and the largest proportion of over 65’s per capita in the country. I come across lots of Shirleys. If any of my patients ask what they should be eating to protect good eyesight rather than the general and rather vague advice of “plenty of fresh fruit and especially leafy green veg”, I now have a website to give them which has food that they can actually afford to cook and eat.
Students are another group of people who need to learn to fish and live within their means if they are to avoid beginning working life with a huge debt and CFR is definitely a cool resource for anyone about to set off for uni. DS3 will be cooking some of Shirl & Kitty’s recipes for us over the summer before hopefully departing for Aberdeen!
I will think further about some specific website feedback and post when I am able to. Look forward to reading about your discussions, I am sure your online meeting will be a riot. Keep up the good work.:beer:0 -
