shanks and arty sorry about the storage headaches :( the houmous could be made quite soon which is over a quarter of them, and it will last quite a while if you sterilise the jars :)

Thanks Shanks I will only do half as the freezer is full- I had to re-arrange everything just to get two packs of frozen peas in. So my meat is all in the fridge which I had to rearrange too!!

Grrrrr my landlady just doesn't factor in two people in the house at all-roll on Sunday when I can put loads of food in Mr artybears freezer

arty what's the best before date on the liver, chicken and milk?

I've cooked half the liver and stuck the other half in the freezer. I'v got till the 11th on the chicken and the 12th on the milk.

I think with the milk I am going to have to portion out into water bottles but even then I dont know if I will be able to store it-its only 4 bloody pints!!!

GGrrrr...its not your fault in my case at all Weezl I think my landlady just likes the benefits of a lodger in terms of financial value but actually sharing the house she is not so keen on doing so.

    Hi everyone,

Well i got some of the stuff i needed for this week. My freezer is jammed packed as i thought my partner contract was going to end. So i have no chance of buying for the freezer.

Anyway did some shoping today for the things i needed for the week (i hope) and some stuff for later in the month ended up spending £12.42. would have been less but i went to the butchers tfor the liver and the price was extortionate:eek:. Next time i'm buying halal as its cheaper.
I did check up on supermarket site last night my god the price of flour was unreal. For 11 strong bread flour Mr S's it £8.69:eek:, which i really cannot afford. So going to stick to my usual 1/2 plain 1/2 bread as its half the price.

Just made the tangy bean pate and the liver pate, got prep ready for the carbonara. So will get to that soon.
Oh em forgot to ask how do i store the liver pate? It's in the fridge at the moment is that okay?

Weezl no storage issues here so dont worry i have a chest freezer in the shed so have heaps of room. I just remembered that Arty was saying she could only store at Mr Artys and i didnt want her to have the same quantities that i have to try and so something with.
No probs here so dont go worrying on my behalf and anyway i came into this challange with my eyes open so nothing that happens is your fault.:)
Thats the hummous and the apple curd made and the carbonara is cooking away. Like Frankie i have some garlic in the fridge and a baguette so will have that instead of the slices of HM that are supposed to go with it

good luck with the interview shanks and arty sorry about the headache x

Weezl:- Thanks for asking your DH about the dried fruit, you really didn't have too, really appreciate it though x
I'm slowly coming around to the idea but we'll see in the coming weeks. Its just so hard figuring out the best things to do. As my boys are 9 and 6yrs they eat lots, skinny and have very fast metabolisms so its a struggle keeping up with them.ah the joys of a mother. But on the upside i get to dive in the mud with them :rotfl:(oops just remembered have to wash our coats. Some mysterious little imp decided to throw us down a muddy hill on a sledge, naughty imp.

hi kezlou, I'd be happy with it lasting a week, but beyond that I'm not so sure. What I'm thinking, is if it were me and the freezer was full I'd either try to get some space cleared this week for then freezing the pate, or maybe just eating the pate this week and adapting the planner accordingly?

I'm not sure if those suggestions help! :)

I do feel bad though arty cos the milk is mostly there for tea drinkers which IIRC you're not one of - eeek! Mr Arty will need some for his coffee and I'm wondering if you could make the delia tart and green pea soup earlier to use up a bit of it?

Sorry, I wish I'd remembered about you not having tea and Mr arty being away when we were talking about the online orders. I got quite overwhelmed thinking about all of your different situations and those things didn't occur to me in the moment.

I'll sort the milk out I'm sure it will be fine. And worst comes to the worst and it goes off i'll make Mr arty drink his coffee black-he never argues with me:D:rotfl:

Allegra, that was a great post and I love the emotion you put into it too, very inspiring!

Frankie, poor little car but good job on the crunchy scones, they can be paper weights or something! I think we need an addendum to this plan of amusing stories of silly things people have had happen to them!

Shanks, what is the job may we ask? Over an hour sound good to me, rude of them to make you wait that long! I think I know what you mean about batch cooking, though it can be good to get things done and out of the way if you are someone who cooks to relax or gets overwhelmed with 50 things going on at once maybe splitting them is best so you don't go loopy! Plus, people are less likely to steal a spoonful of flour from the cupboard than they are a scone out of the breadbin!

Its a hotel manager full time night shift 4 on 4 off. Did i t before in another hotel for 7yrs and really shouldnt have left but i thought a change of scenery would be good and the money was better but i should have followed my instincts and not taken the job but you live and learn. Part of me wants the job but i am a creature of habit and dont like change so not sure if i want to move. No pleasing me eh?
Just finished dinner and both declared it a success though ex would have liked more cheese but tough.:)
