What about the Smartprice oven chips? IIRC, they do frozen chips that can be fried or baked...

off to bed now to recover from the sickness.

Can anyone do a bit of googling about doughnuts?

I'm thinking with our normal bread dough and some golden syrup inside?

lesley I added one more bag of bread flour another jar of olives and that really helped, including the spices and mustard :)

No these ^^^^^ are the small potatoes (I get the same price as you for them).

The ones at 94p/2.5kg are called Smartprice potatoes (in the picture they look like they need washing). They are on mysupermarket at the this price and also on the ASDA website with no postcode info in either site.

Yeah, they DO need washing, and it's a right pain in the rear! It doesn't seem to be "mud", IYKWIM, it's like the spuds have been rolling around on a hot dusty country track for a few days before being bagged - PROPER muddy spuds (from the greengrocers) are clean after being washed with a little rub - the SP potatoes need SKER-RUBBING!

And don't even ASK about how quick they start to grow!! Weeks of being stored, transported, stored, displayed...yet within 3 days of them reaching my dark, cool cupboard THEY'RE SPROUTING!!
(and I have tried leaving them in the bag, taking them out, putting them in cardboard, paper, glass, leaving them on the shelf, putting in the fridge - nothing works!)

    (sorry, rant over! :o )

    rainbow! Are you there:D?

How much (dry weight) of chick peas was required to make that snack you mentioned? roasted with the spices I mean?

You're going to have to work this backwards as I only ever use tinned chick peas (and of course, the dried chick peas need to be cooked before eating/adapting anyway) and I've only recently started cooking with dried pulses & beans...:o

1 tin (400g) of chick peas, drained and rinsed

This will give you (once roasted) at least TWO generous servings (ideal instead of popcorn with a DVD, or if using instead of pasta/potatoes). Can be eeked to smaller portions for more people if nibbling in place of peanuts (for example) etc.

I love them with a dollop of mayo and shovelled in with a spoon.
(you didn't read that bit, OK? :A)

Now someone's going to test-cook this snack and realise I'm a complete pig with my quantites :D

I think breadcrumbs would definitely be better than oaty cereal, I'm sure that was the cause of the stodginess.
Not sure how much difference it would make changing kidney beans to chick peas. My personal preference would be for chick peas as I like the taste of them better, but in terms of texture there probably wouldn't be much in it.
Hope you feel better tomorrow xx

lesley it's 1577 total cals for the 3 jars yeast extract, does that help?

and if we allow 75 cals each daily for the piece of fruit, that's 9300 more

OK, I've hard typed that in

deficit down to 19,737, less the 9300 for the fruit, so 10,437, or 84pppd

    we're getting there
