    Hiya

Wet food is the easiest way to keep them hydrated, whether it's fish poached in milk as an occasional treat, wet food pouches or tuna with extra oil mixed in (vet recommended this when our cat had blocked urinary track due to not drinking enough). I also second (or third or fourth!) the water fountain suggestion, and I also recently read that you can make catnip tea for reluctant drinkers - teaspoon of dried catnip + boiling water, allow it to cool completely and they love it, apparently. Have yet to try it, but hope it helps!

ETA: Can't believe my cat wasn't tapping me on the shoulder to remind me of this one - cat milk! Mine also love double cream in small doses, but only give them a tiny bit at first cos some cats don't cope well with cow's milk, and others are fine.

I have to make sure that I have a bucket of mud which is full of water or that the drain cover has water in it. The moggie will not drink from anywhere clean and only drinks from outside. We make sure that nasty buckets and flower pot saucers are filled with water. We feel really bad but have tried water inside and she won't go for it!

I sometimes replace one of Noah's meals with a raw egg mixed into a sachet of VIYO cat milk, very nutritious and fluids too! Raw egg whites should not be given too frequently as they contain a substance that can bind with one of the B vitamins apparently.

  • our cat sits in the bath and meows until you turn the tap on to a slight trickle so it can drink - It drives me mad, there are always paw prints in the bath, and you can never just 'jump' in the shower in a rush, i have to spend ages cleaning the bath and taps properly (she licks them dry!) every time i want to use it!

Our boy cat Moe always comes to the loo with us and sits at the sink waiting for the tap to be turned on. Since the sink is so close to the toilet often times if we don't turn it on quick enough for his liking he will he headbutt you or give a quick slap with his paw to get your attention. :D

My cat sits in the bath even when she isn't thirsty, espeically when I have just been in there. I can only assume she likes being damp?!

Mine too - or the sink! She also lurks around when dd is in the bath, knowing that she's going to get wet. She loves playing with running water, but never drinks it!

The only place she'll drink from is a bowl on the draining board....and it has to be fresh water every time.

    Funny little critters :D
