my 2 started drinking out of the toilet too - so we got a fountain and that stopped it.
but the youngest has recently discovered the bathroom sink, only thing is they have easy use taps for disabled access so he can turn the taps on (but not off)
and he only seems able to turn them up high and not to a slight drip!!

Cat mission accomplished: Human scratching their head in despair wondering what next to do to please their furry little master! If they let you know WHY they do it... it would spoil all their fun.

My two love drinking from the taps - both refuse to drink from plastic bowls! They now have ceramic bowls in the kitchen, which they usually stand in and traipse all over the kitchen floor and I have a pint glass standing up in the corner of my hall (so it can't be tipped) - this seems to be the preferred option at the moment.

my cat seems to prefer drinking from a glass, can't leave a drink anywhere as she will wedge her head right in to reach the bottom!
Another favorite is jumping in the shower straight after I've been in, I can always tell by the trail of wet pawprints:rotfl:

My cat will only drink from the tap in the bathroom sink. I've thought about getting a water fountain, but I've heard that they're noisy, so I don't think she'd like it.

    Hiya Fiver29,

I have a water fountain for my cat called Cat-it and I got it from Pets at Home, was about £22. It is very very quiet, so you hardly hear or notice it at all.

Before that I had the Fresh Flow water fountain which was double the price and broke...before that I had another Fresh Flow which broke too...hence changing over to the Cat-it!

My cat won't ever drink out of a normal bowl and used to tip the thing all over the floor. He also likes to drink out of other people's glasses either with his paw or shoving his head into the top of the cup! Failing that, he too likes to drink out of the bath!

my cat prefers to drink out of the bathtub but not running water.

sometimes he mraws to let you know he is sitting in the bath, other times he will just sit there silently and scare you half to death in the middle of the night! we need to put about a cup of water in, turn off the tap, and then he drinks it. however, if it touches his feet he jumps out like a banshee!

we also have a separate metal bowl with water in it as well. he never really drank much when it was next to the food, but now that it is in the living room he uses almost daily.

Cinders, that's brought tears to my eyes, it's hilarious!!!!!! Thanks for the best laugh I've had in days/weeks/months!!!
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)
