Credit 'scores' are a waste of money as each lender scores differently. Your credit score of 849 really means diddly squat!

yes, that's why I gave you my circumstances as well:)
    1 credit card.
    1 mobile contract.
    1 current account

2 yrs and 6 mnths in UK.

nothing negative on my report, no missed payments, nothing.

    income 18k
credit card with lloydstsb (classic, 25% apr, 1200CL).
I always clear my card, never go over 50% of CL and don't use the card for cash withdrawals.
and registered on electoral. Changed address back in december, previous address I lived 1 year.
then I had really lot's of changes (3 addresses within slightly 1 year)

now I gave so much info that ID theft is almost certain :) but I hope it gives SOME idea on my status

Your OP was how to correct the address information? Why not just put it in writing to Experian, Equifax and CallCredit explaining the problem and asking them to correct the details shown - bound to be an address on their websites.

I would contact the electoral department in each of the councils that you have lived in and ask them to update their records for you. This will then be passed onto the individual agencies - or you can contact them directly and they may be able to update too - www.saynoto0870.co.uk <--- try that if you are looking for a landline number for the agencies

Don't pay £6 for your credit rating it's a waste of money that doesn't mean anything. You need to sort your address out so it shows you are on the electoral register.

I agree that paying for your credit score or rating is a waste of time, it means nothing - lenders criteria will vary so its a waste of time. however signing up to a service like experian in my view is crucial in terms of keeping up to speed with potential identity theft. it emails/texts you every time credit is applied for in your name and I'd imagine that logging in for the first time and seeing lots of 'red boxes' would be far better than not knowing til the debt collectors come knocking. well worth the £7 or whatever it is a month imho

You can still protect yourself from identity theft with the £2 statutory reports.

No lender will send the debt collectors after a month of missed payment so the texts aren't that helpful. Even by purchasing a statutory report every month, you'll still know about fraud much before any debt collector will.

Save yourself some money and stop paying to access your own information. :D You wouldn't charge yourself a tenner every time you look at your birth certificate, would you?

People keep saying about experian credit score a waste of money yes i agree, but it is a good indication on showing you where you stand on your report..
we know banks score is not the same, but i bet if you had a score of say 970 which is excellent on there score, money on it you will have a better chance then someone with 215 score which is very poor..
So when people say it is random numbers is not quite true,if you now do 10 applications in a month i will guarantee you the credit score will not give you a random number of over 850 your score will drop,so yes its not the same as banks as is scored different but yes it is a good indication on where about's you stand..

    quick update:
rejected for Sburys (obviously, long interest free period, read somewhere that it's not that easy to get).

rejected by lloyds (advised to reapply in 6months) (even though I bank with them, with a 1500CL, and good history (1yrs6mnths). So I guess they want me to be stuck with their classic card with 25% interest...

so applied for cap one card, the second one (progress?). Approved straight away.
interest doesn't matter for me, coz i pay off in full...
my lloyds card probably will use it to build up my credit rating (as lower apr), by just paying minimum payment on low balance... I've heard it's a good thing to do.

writing this just to advise people who may have similar dilemma

    thanks everyone for help!

good thing with cap one is that you get free experian (is there any small print to that?)
