When i am assertive enough I will use it too. I love it. I like the new story LBD but work gets in the way of everything. I still can't set boundaries. I have just been assertive, my boss asked me to attend an exhibition on a weekend when i am meeting steve and susan and andy from our thread. Old me would have cancelled my plans. New me, i am going to tell him i have plans that can't be changed and can he ask someone else!!!!

I listened and learned. Thank you LBD. Hooray.

Lovely LBD. I think I have read this before but forgot it. gosh this could apply to DH's family, who were angry at us for a year because we couldn't afford to go to a wedding! We have declined the second wedding too as we know we cannot afford that one either!

Maybe I should post that to them!

Good evening, my friends. I am here, in the hotel and the presentation is finally ready. We shall see how it goes - it might be rather interesting given that I did more than half of it after drinking some wine (not much, I am in the North after all) and having had a nice dinner with very interesting people.

Frankly, I was dreading the networking effect of it but then ended up sitting with people most of whom I have known for ages. So there was loads of joking and laughter. And some networking, politicking and talking shop...naturally. But it was so pleasant and interesating that I did not have time to panick and remember that I am a high scorer.

Now it is time to rest I suppose and dream of a great presentation tomorrow - need to keep the time.

Ace! After three hours of fitful sleep I did the presentation – it did go well, I think. People were doing what I wanted them to do; they laughed when they should; thought when they should; were playful when they should. The paper is another matter entirely – this needs loads of work to ‘become’ but the message is that it is well worth it.

Thank you all – thank you for your support and thanks the Universe for listening. And may it listen about other things as well.

The boss of the funding agency supporting this workshop is very happy – the room is full (they had to change the venue to a larger room); people are engaged and interested; discussions flow; arguments are few. I wonder whether we will manage to get some more funding and get a book funded. Keep wishing!

On a different matter entirely, I just remembered that it is Mother’s Day on Sunday; and that motherhood is defeating me again because I’ll be away. It is not that Little Boy was bothered though – we agreed that we will celebrate when I am back.

    Speak soon.

This was not as bad as I thought it may be - it seems that the people attending the Workshop has good time as well. Just back from dinner and after that discussion with a colleague about some work together (involving rather generous amount of funding to study change in universities). We still have not discussed with the funding body whether they will fund us to do a book though - there was no opportunity to do it so have agreed to have a three way phone call and discuss options. Given that the funders are very happy we at least have not been 'licked from the outset'.

Feeling very tired though - will teach me to rad novels all night. Tomorrow I am getting a train to Lund for the second part of my visit. My only regret is that I did not manage to visit the Nobel Museum or see anything apart from the hotel and the place where we had dinner. Not enough time this time - but I'll be back.

This reminds me that there is a Russian book entitled The Alt Player Danilov and he always left things unfinished so that there is a reaosn to come back. Intreresting...

    Good night.
