Hmmm, interesting about the fluent thing. I have lived in UK for almost 11 years and am doing fairly difficult studies in English successfully. However if I try to tell people about the different types of fish we used to fish and eat back home I struggle so by no means I haven't mastered the language. And I don't think I will ever get rid of the accent. And no I am not even going to try to describe how the engine works in any language :rotfl:

Marru i am from Birmingham -believe me you dont want my accent!!! And I am probably the only one here that is not able to describe the workings of a car engine in English. It is a box that transfer's people from A-B, that's the extent of my car skills, oh dear.

Working fewer hours per week will take me a long time – but then, it probably does take quite a long time to set up and sort out. There is some improvement and I don’t work 10-12 hours a day any longer but still...The difference between 50 and 5 is rather large. Or, if I am to be more realistic, working about 20 hours a week – this is four hours a day, five days a week. This is what I have read many writers do.

Yesterday I continued with the exercises – although it was mainly about the follow up on my dream-lines. And, yes, for now the dream-lines are a bit ‘work-like’ but till we get rid of the negative wealth our dreams are mainly about that. OH, in fact, refuses to dream about anything else. There are supporting dream-lines though...

One dream-line (it is my ‘to have’ one) is to get rid of the negative wealth by Christmas (incidentally this is one of the things that I included in my letter to the Universe last autumn). This gives us eight months and my calculations show that for this to happen we need additional £5,100 per month or £170 per day. Put like this, it does not look that scary any longer; and this is between two people (or even three if Young Man gets a job and starts paying for his keep). The question now is – how do we make this difference.

On my side, I suspect that this dream is intertwined with another one – to be a writer and a bestselling author. This is a very core thing for where I am going – it is core for my job and core for my soul. This is a ‘to be’ dream-line and I did work out the actions that constitute it. As a first action I did work out the name of a blog that I have been meaning to start for ages, and lovely OH registered a domain. Today we will construct it (tonight) and I’ll be starting to populate it – with writing, useful information, and, I hope, ‘a little help from my friends – virtual and others’.

But I am still very busy – so today will be practicing asking my-self the question ‘Am I being productive or just busy?’

Yesterday I rushed in the Newsagents near my office – remember I did mention sometime ago that I have a nice discussion with the Indian lady there about the seven Laws of the Universe. She looked at me and said ‘Are you busy?’

    ‘Very!’ – was my reply.
‘Ummm’ – she said – ‘have you been watching TV? Look what happened in Japan? How important is most of what you do when compared to this?’

This is it, I thought, this is how I can work out what is important and what is not. Find a benchmark (probably not a major disaster because this invalidates all) and compare. I probably should go to the Newsagents more often – but not buy chocolate.

Keep well, people and speak later tonight.

    And the big news is...

...marking has been finished; all 30 cm pile of it (too difficult to calculate pages or words; probably weight may work). So today I managed to:

Start sorting out my blog – it is a blank page no longer and there is a picture on it. Unfortunately it had to be one of the ones offered but it will be changed. OH reminded me that last year I took some really nice pictures of the Alhambra (which I loved) so shall have a look. Tomorrow I will have to write my first post and the blurb about me. Oh dear, this is happening.

Work on a paper I will be presenting at a workshop I co-organised. The workshop itself is not till April 1st but it is no joke – this is the one where we not only got funding from a very highly regarded funder, but also will collect the top people in the world working on the matter.

Finish the marking – which is such a relief although probably about three weeks late. Testing the thesis that most of what we do is actually not very important and nothing so dramatic happens when we don’t do it when expected (with some things apparently it is ‘don’t do it at all’; learning to recognise these is an art-form).

Post a number of times on these boards. A friend – WilliamD1964 – needs help and support. So if anybody reading this can offer some support, and practical advice - this will be great. I will continue thinking of him and sending wishes for favourable resolution of his troubles.

And this is about it. Have my short to do list for tomorrow but the day will begin with a run – I have promised myself this.

FW - I am attempting to sort an ad-hoc meet up on Saturday daytime ... if you are free it would be lovely if you could come

Have invited Pickle, Dedicated and Cheery so far ... a bit of charity shopping and tea in the morning followed by lunch and a stroll for those who can (or want to depending on the weather)

Let me know (also feel free to invite anyone I have missed)

Morning! I've been very out of touch, I'm not sure what William needs? If I can help I will - tho I'd also like to go to the Saturday meet, and I can't, I'm seeing my mum at her house for the first time in maybe 18 months (see her lots down in the south, but not up north where she lives).

FW, you've written *more* wonderful posts while I've been offline struggling to get my computer working again! I've got the TimF book, and will be working through the exercises while I'm away - I'm off tomorrow for 10 days.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

Good night and sleep well (or have great time if you are out on the town).
What a great sign off :j

We had a long chat last night and OH is saying that what gets him down and the reason he is sad and subdued all the time is that he want to start earning (loads) so that the negative wealth is dealth with. He is saying that he really hates our saving tactics; he was glum skiing because he hated the thought that we are doing it 'on the cheap'; and he hates thinking whether to buy something in A..i or not.

Interesting this one! I have been feeling so proud and seeing curbing our spending as such an adventure. He thinks that it is because of the difference in our upbringing - the kind of thing was always part of his (his Dad was very careful, overly careful perhaps). But my parents were very careful as well. Maybe I am just better in bocoming like parents than he is...

But when we have achieved financial health this may become a point of doscord again. I am never wasting, ever...And I will always want that little bit of security (a cushion of £1 million, me thinks)

I've realised that one of the reasons I hate talking to helplines about money is that I hate being so poor - my income has halved over the last 6 years or so. I don't want to resuscitate it, I want to let it die a natural death (I've been a therapist for over 20 years, and I'm *done*). But when my two new income streams are up and running, I can't see me ever going back to the way things were - not bothering to wait for sales for something I wanted, just paying for things as and when. And I had - just about still have - a cushion, but it will be much, much bigger. In fact, thats what most of the new earnings will go on.

Thats an interesting definition - can I just make a plea tho, as an English person - I'm a family historian, and the only different nationalities I've discovered in most branches of my family going back for 200 years, are Irish and Welsh - accents are beautiful! I love accents, as long as they're not so strong I can't understand the person (which is another problem I have with helplines, actually).

FW, hope your week is wonderful. I'll be posting when I get back :)

KC, William just needs either a prayer (if you do this) or sending a wish to the Universe (or whatever you believe in) at 3 pm.
