How long did it take you to complete?

Our offer was accepted last week on a property.
AIP all sorted and the survey is happening next week.
No chain on either side. Our solicitor seems really on the ball and always available.
So if all goes according to plan what would we be looking at moving in?
It's very exciting for a FTB like myself and everyday I drive past to have a look at the house.
But all this is new to me. I just want the keys

Don't listen to anyone else basically.
Its took us 3 months last time and prob about 10 weeks last time. People will tell you they did it in 4 weeks etc etc. But prepare for about 8 weeks, anything less is a bonus0 -
From us accepting the offer on our old our old house, to completion date was 10 weeks exactly.
As pp says, each move is different.I love giving home made gifts, which one of my children would you like?:A

Hi Pammy,
We were in a similar situation as you, i.e no chain, agreement in principal sorted. The vendor took an offer on the basis it was completed in 4 weeks but it took 6 weeks in the end which we thought was really good, vendor was happy with that also. Maybe the 4 weeks aim was too make sure we got things moving.0 -
i'm in a similar situation pammy!
got an offer accepted last thursday afternoon, no chain either side, got mortgage agreed in principle.
the financial advisor notified the bank of the agreed price and the address of the property but obviously they're not doing anything over easter.
they should hopefully do the valuation survey mid next week, though we also want to get a roof survey done - the house we're buying is an old cottage. can't decide whether to book a survey or wait to see whether the valuation survey (it's included with the mortgage) flags anything up.
will sort out the advocates on tuesday hopefully.
we're renting so it would be ideal if everything was sorted by the 14th of may.. but we'll see.
fingers crossed for both of us!0 -
I'm in the same situation; FTBs, no chain either side, mortgage offer in place... but we had our offer accepted on 6th December and we still haven't even exchanged, never mind completed! Vendor's solicitor has basically been useless (and has thankfully 'left' the firm now), so hopefully things will start moving a bit faster now.
Don't get too excited too soon as it could be ages til you get the keys yet, or you could be lucky and be in there in a few weeks. Good luck all!0 -
From my offer being accepted to completing late last year was 3 weeks and 3 days. The property was empty though, and there was no chain to worry about. This was in the middle of the postal strikes too, however the estate agent, my solicitor and the vendor's solicitor were all within 200 yards of each other in the same town. So if they set their mind to it it can be done very quickly.0

We accepted an offer 7 weeks ago and are still waiting for exchange. Our EA thinks it should be end of next week or the week after - I hope so as I'd really like to complete before the end of April!0

Let's see who completes first
I think its the first time i want the Easter weekend to be over so I can get on with this.
Its amzing how long its taken some people with no chain.0 -
I viewed on the 27th, had the offer accepted on March 1st and am buying an empty house, have no chain and no mortgage - I'll be glad to complete, we were hoping for April 10th but the vendors solicitor seems to be as much use as a chocolate teapot . Still, the vendor has filled in all the forms (the estate agent got him to go into the office and made him do it there and then as he is very laid back) and the searches went off on Thursday.
Fingers crossed we get a date this week.0
