Well had a look last night and we can get travel insurance for £24 for the family, this is for the silver package and cover for for all sorts of things! £40 cheaper than FC! My friend thinks i have to take the wedding insurance with them but not the rest. if this is true i will be happy to save £40!
Also thought i had 3 passports to renew. I knew DD1 was fine as hers was done last year. Just looked and DD2's is fine until 2012. OH is until 2014 BUT they have put the worng date of birth. We knew this when we got it but it was too close to our flying date to do anything about it. It was a renewal so they should't have got the wrong DOB. They have put 20th feb instead of 20th Jan! Coincidently DD1's birthday is 20th Feb and her form was in the same envelope! As we have a year i am going to email the passport office and claim we have just noticed it...you never know they might change it for free. Having a correct passport is definitely a must for the wedding!
Got up early but haven't done any exercise. Feeling pretty aching so don't want to push it! I have swimming after work tonight. I haven't been for a month due to MIL being away.
Managed to work an extra 5 hours from home yesterday! :j
Right thats me...better get these kiddiwinkles up fed and changed!Orange Fairy

Hi Kel, good news on the insurance. We've always booked hols through FC as sil works for them but never taken their insurance always seems so expensive compared to what you can get when you shop around.
Definitely plead ignorance with the passport, fingers crossed they will change it for nothing.

Hi Kel, hope the passports are easy to sort. I can't believe how much it costs now to re-new them. DH needs doing so we're going to stay in the UK this year! Have a good Friday eveningThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Had a good day. Managed to cancel the insurance. Rather than refund they have just taken the £82 off the holiday which suits me fine. We have to top up the deposit from £200 to £600 by July 15th so this will be £82 less to find.
We are still waiting to see what the in laws are going to help us with....i wouldn't have expected anything except they offered and we really need to know how much they are going to help with. It's so frustrating as we need to know where we stand so we can budget and at the same time it is a bit delicate!
Enjoyed my swim. Though this evening i ate a packet of fruit mentos and now the lack of will power has got me feeling really down. Now i am convincing myself i paid £3.50 and swam for an hour just to eat a pack of mentos! Though i only had a banana for breakfast, porridge for lunch and drank 2 litres of water, and then WW shephards pie from the freezer..nice to free up the space!!! So perhaps mentos werent too bad...though i did have a low fat jelly and cutard pudding..... oh i feel so bad going to bed feeling like i've failed today!
Transfered another £6 from paypal to throw at LW! Not much but it all helps!
Got to start making decisions. I keep thinking it's okay ill sell more things on ebay...but if truth be known i don't have much more to sell!!! I am not a hoarder in the first place but now we are getting to the stuff we really want to keep! A few computer games, cds and a dress are about all i have left to go! Need to work out the plan of action for paying off stuff!
I need to make a decision this weekend if i am going on this camping trip or not next month. I really want to meet up with the other families but i was thinking that i could possibly have a really frugal June. As in scrimp on food all month and keep as much money in the bank as poss. Though if we go on the trip our possible overpayments would drop by about £100. aaarrrggghhh
Again a lot of this relies on the in laws. If they pay the amount we were hoping they would then we know we could comfortably go on this trip and start paying wedding debt in july.
My plan is still to get LW down to £142 which is the amount left interest free until Jan 11. I know i will be overly tempted to get rid of this so it is gone but i have to think sensibly. If i have £142 it would be better thrown at the wedding debt that i am paying interest on. I just want that 'it's cleared' feeling!
I keep getting frustrated by the debts but i think really we are not in a bad position. We have 9k of debt which is manageable. We are all fed well and clothed and go out a lot. The only thing really is it stopping us buying our own house. But i can wait for that! I've waited this long so what is another couple of years really! While i am really excited about the wedding it is frustrating to think we could have been cleared of everything but the loan in about 11 months time and then could spend a year throwing all our spare money at the laon.
If MIL and FIL agree to the £1000 then i reckon we could carry on paying things off until october and then concentrate on wedding money for 6-7 months. I reckon we could clear the wedding debt and make a big dent in the television debt by then.
Excited that i will pay off what i need to off LW next month. At the moment it stands at £364. I have £82 on it's way, £40 left of bday money and should have £30 left of this months wages, and the £6 from paypal. That gives a grand total of £158 to pay off in may. This brings the total to £206. This means i will have to pay £64 in june and seeing as my normal payment is £30 i could do this straight away. This frees me up £30 a month :jI may have £10 interest to add i would imagine but not too drastic.
Right what a long update! Been a thinking day today!Orange Fairy

Just done my snowball calculator!
It says my DFD is Nov 2012
I am pleased with this as our minimum payments are currently £300 a month. I used £350 a month value which would be overpaying by just £50 a month and keeping the same payments when certain debts were paid off. Realistically it should be much higher. But at the moment i think to put this is safe especially with saving for the wedding. I can keep adjusting it to see what i am able to chop off my DFD. I originally put £400 payments which gave May 2012. This snowball allows for a lot of movement but isn't too restricting! Will add to my sigOrange Fairy

Morning
Wow you have been thinking alot thats not always a good thing in my house.
If i were you and you wont get any extra debt I would go on the camping trip. After several things happening to me over the years I realise you should take up every offer if you dont get any extra debt, as memories are priceless and we all need to have fun once in a while. I also love the challenge of doing those sort of things on a budget, dont dismiss it yet if the weather is good you could get a nice base tan
Have a great dayMARCH 2016 DEBT £25750/ £25035

Must be moments for thinking Kel, i'm going through that at the moment....in fact i'm fed up of thinking :rotfl:That said it's best to do these things
If you can go on the trip then I would, it's not going to break the bank so to speak and it'll be good for both you and the children.
It's so hard though to know what to do for the best, get rid of debt, enjoy life, so and so on....finding the right balance is the hardest part
Enjoy your weekend xx0 -
HI Kel,
Bit late in joining the thread but managed to get the gist of things - The Avanti Village looks amazing, I bet you cannot wait!
I managed to finish my AAT the beginning of this year, had done all my exams by Dec 2008 but it was that blinking project that I just couldn't be bothered to do! Not sure if I can help in any way but if I can then feel free to give me a shoutI have just started my ACCA but I got exemptions for doing AAT Technician so I've almost been dropped in the thick of it and it's really hard
Will pop back soon to see how you are getting on
