It's impossible to crash and cause damage or harm at 69mph but drive at 71mph....jeez, what a lunatic!!! carnage awaits!!!

regardless of the all the sometimes its safe to drive over the speed limit sometimes driving at the speed limit is unsafe argument. You know what the laws says if choose to go over it don't moan if you get caught.

If you don't like how the speed limit system system works in this country then lobby your MP don't complain when you get caught breaking law that have been set down.

hope you got away with it this time - but - speed kills.

IMHO it seems to be both....the worse a driver the more likely a real disaster will happen ....at pretty much any speed, we lost hubby's best friends soulmate this way:(

On the other hand....speed itself probably doesn't have as much input into the disaster. I've often seen big speeding, but usually really impressed with the driving skills.

I'm always glad the boy racers down our way have loud cars.....I despise speeding in really built up areas....

Maybe it was me that waggled my finger at OP?

    Has been known:cool:

There's an awful lot more to it that the arguments stated here, for example one argument is that a lower speed (such as with the current trend of reducing B roads from 60 to 40) can actually cause more accidents as boredom and distraction set it.

We'll soon find out one way or another as they are rolling out SPECS cameras across the entire motorway network over the next few years. I'm just glad I'm no longer on the motorway for 8 hours a day.

A massive flaw in a new generation of speed cameras means motorists can avoid fines and points on their licence simply by changing lanes.

Old news, no longer correct as of SPECS2 (the current rollout is SPECS3)

I'd clocked the date. Wasn't sure how appropriate it was.

Agreed. But doing 80mph in a 70mph doesn't seem completely crazy. I know it's illegal but still. I on the other hand was pushing the boundaries of the 40 - 45% rule.

Who on earth fed you that tosh, :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:, general rule of thumb seems to be 10% +2 mph.

By your formula over 100mph on the motorway is acceptable:T

Having said that 80 in a 70 isn't a cardinal sin in the right circumstances but you did say you were approaching road works :(
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

10%+2 is indeed the threshold that enforcement starts at for most police forces.

+26mph is the threshold where fixed penalties stop and automatic court summons start to happen.

These are ACPO guidelines, not all forces may follow them, but as far as I am aware, most do.

No it doesn't. Its the sudden stopping that kills you.
