Tried to order new Broadband BUT........

I cancelled BtBroadband about a week ago, and I no longer have a connection. I tried to register with Tiscali this morning, typed my number in and it said
You have already ordered Broadband
A check on your telephone line 01***** shows that you have already
ordered a broadband service.
Does this mean bt have no released my connection? is this where i need to ring them for a mac code? then would this mean my line has been released.
how do i get my line free?
thanks

Yes and it's probably too late to ask for a MAC now , you'll have to sit back and wait until BT release the marker off your line whereas if you had asked for a MAC initially you wouldn't have had any down time as you could have gone straight from BT's to Tiscali's service.0 -
Your very brave attempting to move to the UK,s most complained about Broadband Supplier.0

It's a shame. You have gone about this a bit wrong. Seeing as you've asked for a cease on your line, it can take 10 to 14 days for this take effect. You'll just have to wait till it happens. Once you're ceased, you can sign up for Tiscali, and have to wait another week or so till they connect you.
Seeing as you've already asked for a cease. You can't ask for a MAC now. This would have been the best option from the beginning. If you had asked for a MAC (not cancelling), BT would send you your code. You sign up for your new ISP (Tiscali), and enter the MAC. This way, you would have still been on broadband with BT right up untill the time you were switched onto Tiscalis network. BT would have received notification of the switch date, and stopped billing you from then onwards. You would start being charged by Tiscali from then onwards. This way of switching would have meant you would be without broadband for less than an hour. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Yes it could just be your lucky day! Try choosing a more respected ISP to jump to. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
arghhh, Didn't think about it all to behonest. shame. so there is nothing that can be done.
Would this waiting period be from the moment we rang up to cancell or the day the broadband ceased.?
To the guy that said im brave to go to tiscali. I guess some people have no problems whereas others have loads. thats life. I no people who have been with Tiscali for ages now, with no problems, whereas others have had many.
I was paying for a 1meg line on BT for £25 ex vat. so thats the reason for the move, and bt would not offer me anything to stay.0 -

I'll certainly second that! Tiscali have been one of the most complained about ISPs in the UK for a very long time now. If you are looking for a decent company, they shouldn't even make your shortlist. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I've been reading posts here, but people complain about all the Broadband companys.
2meg line, unlimited, £15 is the best ive seen. I noticed another company, not sure if it was pipex or something similar, offering a line for £12.99 but people had alot of problems with this.
on the original post, would e-mailing bt to release the line hurry it up?0 -

No. Once they order the cease with BT Wholesale (a different company), it is out of their hands. You have to wait for an engineer to be booked to unplug your connection at the exchange. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Ok, thanks for your help. will be thanked.
seen as their is all the hostility against tiscali, anyone recommened a company that can beat their offer of 2meg unlimited £14.99 a month.0 -
They usually maintain the most complained about pole position week in and week out.Hence my Op.
