There is no downfall, a "grotty 3 bed semi" wasn't good enough for him, not only is he bitter, spiteful and downright contemptible he's also incredibly greedy, if he leaves the UK it's nothing but a bonus for anyone who lives here and the only sad part about the story is the poor country that ends up having to keep him next.

Finally. He gets it. (partially anyway)
    .

I'd be worried if I were you, Hamish. Although I like him, according to you the bloke has been pretty consistantly wrong about the house price movements. 'Screaming counterindicator' I would say. If he thinks the house market is going to go up to infinity and beyond... it won't.

This whole thread is basically the pot screaming that the kettle is black.

"not me, look what he said, I am innocent sir, just look what he said, no, I'm not that bad, honest guv".

The point, I think, is that actively creating threads to congrtulate someone's giving up from something they have tried so hard to achieve, is a horrible thing to do. Not that it really bother's me all that much, I do expect it around here, as I said in my first post.

It doesn't really matter what the person we are referring to here actually said. Starting a whole thread to berate a poster, while patting yourself and your fellow comrades on the back for doing so, goe's further than just typing your personal opinion onto a forum.

Waiting patiently for StevieJ to list all the terribly horrid things said by the bulls.

Its going to take quite a while.

I don't think he or they are in a position to cast the first stone.

What has Bear and Bull got to do with it?

What I am struggling with here is it seems a typical post from the OP, why the moral outrage now.

Giving up?its pure greed and jealousy on his part,if you can't make 100k work in your're favour when buying a house, perhaps it is time to give up.

    Tripe.

There is no productive endeavour in sitting around cheering on recession, unemployment, misery, reposession and homelessness, hoping the house market will crash, so you can act like a vulture and get yourself a cheapo deal at the expense of some poor granny's retirement fund.

Being annoyed because they feel too big a sense of entitlement to live in the 3 bed semi they can so clearly afford, with the large pot of savings they've put aside on the proceeds of working for the public sector, all paid for by the taxes of the boomers and pensioners they want to see suffer.

you really are blinkered. This theoretical granny hasn't earned this money. She has just been fortunate. You could argue that it's she who is being selfish expecting some FTBer to take on a lifetime of debt to fund her retirement.

TBH the guy did not have a nice word to say about anything or anyone.
I don't believe in karma, but some times it does seem a good way to look at things.
Well done for saving £100K but he could/can afford to buy.
I just hope he changes his attitude when he hits "Civvi street" or he is going to find hit hard getting those £100K+ jobs he said are available to him.
But he is UK armed forces so although I may not respect how he goes about thing I do respect the job he does for the country.

Also I would like to see of these "defenders" on the thread to step up to the plate a bit more often. People may not like Hamish (or others) but how many threads are stated about him and having a go. Can't say I have seen the defence then.
So If people are going to be heroes on the forum, don't just base it on if they are on "your side" or not because it just makes you a hypocrite. If you don't like how people are to others it should be based on what you see, not where you perceived "allegiances" are
