It's just so risky to speculate with your home. So many people have been convinced that prices would fall and have sat in rented for years waiting. It finally arrived but they just couldn't pull themselves out of the 'bear' mindset and still held back from buying, even though their original housebuying aims had been met. I remember seeing a lot of posts when I first joined where bears were talking along the lines of "I originally wanted a 2 bed terrace, but with these falls I'm now holding out for a 3 bed semi!!". I guess some of the South East bears are now finding that even their original goals are receeding fast as HPI continues.

Thats the thing, its a stretch, but having factored everything including a potential 10% pay cut, and 4K annually for unexpected stuff (car blowing up etc) its affordable. Even if rates hit 8% the day we get the mortgage.
This for me was about ensurng my family would have a decent home to grow in, as I did... we can achieve that, just.... hence why we are going for it.
I am still convinced that we are looking at 30% falls from peak 2007, but dont really care and I really man that. As I said previously, anyone who sees their home as nothing more than a cash cow is little other than a sad tw*t in my view and doing little other than price decent, hardworking individuals out of a home.0 -

No offence but please stop with the figure detective work. You have still got it wrong yet again.

My post #157 already mentions how the pay could be arrived at - you simply don't have enough details (or knowledge apparently) to accurately work back from net to gross with no other figures.
If you are going to try and discredit someone on a forum at least try and get your facts correct rather than posting silly cartoons

Same here, hence we bought last year as soon as we could afford it. I like speculating with shares and have often been tracking a company with the 'this might fall a bit more and then I'll buy' mentality, just to see it shoot upwards without me - but the difference is that if I miss out, it really doesn't make any difference to me personally and I'd just shrug and start looking at the next share. If hes telling the truth then fair play to him, if you want to believe him fair play to you, i dont believe him and thats my porogative.
A few weeks he posted he was leaving the country, now hes buying, he doesnt know what he wants to do.
The very first post i ever read of his was when he was telling people not to buy has house prices were going to fall, at the same time he also said he never had a big enough deposit but would in a years time.
Not only this i have read a lot of his post's which just dont add up, not only this some of his post's to other people have been very degrading, espescially the ones about old age pensioners.
Now he comes on here gloating hes got a repo 30% off, i just hope it all goes smoothly but things like this come back and bite people when they dont expect it, and i for one think he will get all what he deserves.
